This time around, our madcap hosts, Leopold and Carly pay homage to silent comedy with their interpretation of the brief history of trash in Los Angeles. Interspersed is footage of Bureau of Sanitation Historical Records Project Manager, Nat Isaac, who gives a more scholarly account of this little known history. We then head over to the Donald C. Tillman Water Reclamation Plant & Japanese Garden for the groundbreaking of a new environmentally sustainable 18,000 square foot facility. Event host, The Honorable Congressman Tony Cardenas, 29th District, chatted with us about how this new multi-purpose building will serve the public. Next, we visit with Street Services crews to learn how they maintain the City's 6,500 centerline mile street system using recycled materials. Along the way, our reporters-at-large hit the city streets and dusty trails, interviewing people at random, including hikers at Runyon Canyon and surprise special guest, film producer and director, Ron Howard, about what they do to keep Los Angeles green.
