It quickly becomes clear that the sailor hadn't died in an accident, but rather a case of murder: During his examination of the dead man and his equipment, pathologist Dr. Strahl discovered that a safety rope on the small boat had been tampered with. The identity of the dead man is quickly established. He is Benny Kerber, an Olympic hopeful and member of the local sailing club. During the investigation, it emerges that although Benny was shortlisted for the German Olympic team, he had to beat his teammate Tim Landscheid. This means that Tim Landscheid had the most obvious motive for killing Benny. The president of the sailing club, Dr. Mannheimer, confirms the athletic ambition of the two young men to the two investigators, Finn Kiesewetter and Sandra Schwartenbeck, but cannot imagine that Tim would be capable of such an act. When the investigative duo tries to find Tim, he tries to escape. Sandra, who is able to stop him, now clearly knows that only Tim could have committed the crime; after all, he had the opportunity and a motive. Dr. Mannheimer, whose daughter died a year ago on a sailing trip with Tim and Benny, is taking over his defense. Meanwhile, prosecutor Elke Rasmussen is complaining of dizziness and nausea. Finn, who had originally wanted to buy a motorcycle, is now considering a station wagon, given the circumstances that are likely to arise. Written by ARD Das Erste See less
