In a world where very little is ever spoken, Sam quickly realises that no one intends to teach him the new way of 'life.' He finds himself in a queue; reapers line up before their leader, speaking names that, at first, mean nothing to Sam. After observing their ritual, he soon understands that these names being spoken - spoken in a monotone manner; no emotion in their voices - these names are those they've killed. And the name the leader speaks back; that's the next person on their hit list. Sam doesn't know what to feel. He's still human; to him, the process seems wrong.
