Set in the near-distant future, technology has progressed to the point of regenerating those who have died so that they can still remain a part of the world. Margot and Allen Walton, a happily married couple, see the complexities of this new technology first hand when they decide to sign up for a regeneration service in the event one of them passes, being assured that they would have no memory of their death or regeneration if they need to use the service. Their relationship grows more strained as it becomes clear that one of them is different than they were before, and has possibly been regenerated- but who? "Dollhouse" offers a poignant and provocative exploration of what it means to be human in a world where technology blurs the line between life and death. The film raises questions about the ethical and philosophical implications of advanced technology, particularly in the context of human autonomy and free will.
