The alleged doctor called himself pompously Dr. Dr. Clemens Bartholdy. With forged certificates and a CV, he was able to convince the then head of the office, Wolfgang Wodarg, and got the job. In reality, however, the double doctor was called Gert Postel and had only a secondary school certificate and professional experience as a postman: an imposter who had cheated his way to becoming an academic with chutzpah and forged papers. Since then, Gert Postel has led a life that is actually only known from novels. The film "The Imposter - The Dizzying Career of Postman Gert Postel" from 2001 documents this unusual career. It becomes clear how the imposter managed to get a private audience with the Pope while studying to become a priest. Postel's involvement in the affair surrounding the then Prime Minister Uwe Barschel is also being investigated. Postel's work at the psychiatric hospital in Zschadraß near Leipzig is discussed in detail. The trained postman managed to hold his own there for a year and a half as senior physician "Dr. Postel" before he was exposed - by a colleague from Flensburg, of all people.
