Henry Normand, a very young notary, in love with Dolly, who he glimpsed on a walk, commits a series of gaffes to get to know her. The last one costs him five thousand lire, and it earns him the title of scoundrel, given to him by the girl of his dreams. The next day, Dolly, who is beginning to have doubts about her fiance's conduct, proposes for Henry to enter her service, with a salary of a thousand francs a month, as her lover. Encouraged by Simeon, his foster brother, Henry accepts. Dolly's plan is simple: make her boyfriend jealous. In his new position, Henry opens the floodgates of gaffes. After a stormy scene at the tabarin, and a car accident in which Dolly is the victim (much fear and little damage), John Kemp, pretending to be impoverished, unmasks Wloskowa, inducing him to break off the engagement. Naturally, Henry marries the American girl. Written by La Rivista Cinematografica See less
