It was not until 2010 that it was officially played. In connection with the 100th anniversary of his birth, filmmaker David Lindberg made a film about the reconstruction of Allan Pettersson's mythical first symphony. Conductor Christian Lindberg came across the sketches to the symphony and succeeded in compiling a score of the rather scribble and almost the unreadable note printing. The film is also partly a portrait of a man who grew up in Södermalm's poor neighborhood of Stockholm and for more than a decade played viola in the Stockholm Concert Association before he dared to become a full-time composer, despite his severe rheumatism.
