After yet another draining shift at a grocery store, he returns home to find his roommates, Lucas and Min, indulging in soju and an expensive crab dinner they can't usually afford. The night quickly takes a turn when Lucas, the more controlling and confrontational friend, announces he's moving out, leaving the others to figure out how they'll cover rent. As tempers flare, Lucas belittles James's failing acting career, financial woes, and mixed identity. It becomes clear the roommates are each burdened by their own respective insecurities. What begins as a "celebration" devolves into a toxic argument, with the friends trapped by the "crabs in a bucket" mentality, where efforts to climb out only drag others down, ensuring no one escapes. At the peak of the climax, James's sense of reality blurs into a surreal nightmare. Overwhelmed by mounting pressure and bottled-up frustrations, James dissociates during a physical tussle where Min accidentally stabs James. The boiling crab dinner in the background serves as a powerful metaphor for the friends' inescapable cycle of self-sabotage and mutual destruction.See less
