He also finds a new ally, the deputy director of the FSB, Laptev, and again loses Masha, who disappeared from the hospital. From Laptev, Dubrovsky learns that Khromov was going to expose the illegal activities of "IVA". Irinarkhov is worried about the appearance of the winner of the doubles competition. He has a secret with this person, known only to one of his close associates, the old criminal Pinocchio. Bezhetsev puts forward a version that Irinarkhov is not who he claims to be.
