Jamie notes this but doesn't ask what's wrong. As we learn more about the young couple, Star begins to tell her boyfriend the story of how her great-grandparents fell in love. The lines between past and present are blurred in this film with a reference to the charter of values affecting present-day Quebec politics when Nicholas, Star's great-grandfather, is seen meeting Mary upon his arrival to Montreal, as a lonely Italian immigrant during the Great Depression. Their first meeting, their first dance, are all told in contrast to Star, who is in the middle of producing a film of her own. Yet when a strange event occurs as Jamie and Star are on their way to the set, she realizes there may be a touch of fate on her current work. Written by Karina Licursi See less
