Renata and Robert both have near fatal encounters with it before Renata explains that her house is a portal to a demonic kingdom ruled by Lord Trash, from which the incubus escaped. Robert does battle with the monster, seemingly killing it before Renata informs him of the calyx, the stone jar whose contents will destroy Dance before he returns to London, though not all his party leaves with him.
