Christian Kleist can't find anything at first, but with the help of his daughter Lisa and radiologist Timotheus von Hatzfeld, he uncovers Thomas's mysterious illness. Christian's daughter, Lisa, is getting along surprisingly well with Hatzfeld's new colleague. His advances soon impress her more than she'd like, and tension begins to build between the two. The atmosphere between Christian and Piwi is becoming increasingly icy, as Piwi is determined to give up his responsibilities at the practice so he can accompany Anke to Singapore. He doesn't want to live solely for work like his father: Anke and his private life should take priority. While Christian's youngest son, Paul, is having trouble at school, his partner, Anna, is struggling to secure new clients after her main client goes bankrupt. Fortunately, she's able to mitigate a costly warning for Paul's illegal downloads, but the Kleists' financial situation remains difficult. But work stress and money worries soon take their toll on him so much that he secretly resorts to tranquilizers.
