One day Liam sees her going into an off-licence and gives her a bottle of wine but she gets drunk, falls down, cracking her skull and falling into a coma. Liam and Debra grow closer as they visit the hospital and he helps her with the boys though Anna feels used and finishes with him. Reconciliation with Debra seems likely until he tells her that he gave Jess the wine though it is the recovering Jess herself who ultimately allows him to patch things up.
