He was a guide for hikers in Ecoloisir, Antoine Crosne's company. Paul thinks it was not suicide, but murder, for there are two marks on his neck. The post-mortem finds a woman's wedding ring inserted in his throat. Estelle Delmas, his girlfriend, is a suspect: she had been engaged before, but the wedding was cancelled. Etienne's mother informs that he was a homeless in the past and thus banned by his girlfriend's family.
