The film commences with numerous images - both symbolic and literal - of copulation, conception and birth; and works forward through childhood, adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and death. Themes touched on include education, self-discovery, self-reflection, political action, sexual awakening, travel, Guy Debord's "Society of the Spectacle," religious indoctrination, mass destruction and violence, work, isolation, and despair.
