Overview
Dr. Shah joined the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Keck School of Medicine in 2019 and currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine. She grew up in Illinois, received her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, medical degree from St. George's University, has completed her residency at Elmhurst Hospital Center in New York, and fellowship in both nephrology and transplant nephrology fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. SInai in New York. She is conversational in Spanish and Gujrati. Dr. Shah is a member of several prestigious societies, including the American Society of Nephrology, American Society of Transplantation, and Women in Nephrology.
Along with clinical duties, Dr. Shah is also involved in medical education at the level of medical students, residents, fellows, and transplant nephrology fellows. She currently serves as the Chair for the Renal System for the USC Medical School, assistant program director for the nephrology fellowship and transplant nephrology fellowship.
Dr. Shah is also an avid researcher. She is currently studying areas of related to biomarkers in kidney transplantation, infections seen following transplantation, and strategies to personalize immunnosuppression in transplant patients. She has been invited to speak at the local and national level at many prestigous conferences.
Her areas of clinical expertise include management of kidney and pancreas transplant recipients, management of chronic kidney disease in patients with other organ transplants (lung, liver, heart, bone marrow), and pregnancy in transplantation.
