Overview
Dr. Anderson is Medical Director of UC San Diego Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Healing Center in Encinitas. He specializes in limb salvaging with advanced training in hyperbaric medicine, wound care, skin therapeutics, bioengineered skin grafting, and noninvasive vascular testing. Dr. Anderson completed a fellowship in diving and hyperbaric medicine at the Emergency Department of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Prior to that, he completed a combined residency training program in internal and preventive medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital and Griffin Hospital, both in Connecticut. His preliminary general surgery residency training was done at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Anderson earned his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC, and his Master’s degree in public health from Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his undergraduate education at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He is currently involved in qualitative research projects that identify barriers to wound healing. His research interests also include regenerative medicine, diabetic foot osteomyelitis, and hyperbaric stress preconditioning and inflammatory modulation. Outside of the Emergency Department, he enjoys distance running and the arts.
