I went to the everyday is halloween 2.2 thingy and met this guy named Dave. I gave him my number but I forgot my phone in my rides car over night and missed his call and he didnt leave a number. Only said to call him back. Anyone who knows someone named Dave that went there last night please ask them if it was them and if so to please call again. In White House press conferences and pro-football half time shows, cowboy images are used to represent the American character. With this in mind, Salt’s editors have amassed a collection of original non-fiction features, comics, and art reexamining the American cowboy, the Western frontier, and our nation’s conflicted history.<o:p> <o:p> To celebrate the release of the cowboy issue, cowpokes and greenhorns alike are welcomed to attend Salt’s hoedown on Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Eon Grille and Hotel, 106 E. 8th Street, Homestead. A stellar cast of local bands including The Hope Harveys, Fangs of the Panda, Louie and The Humans, and Hooligan Ship; and singer Matt Weatherby will cover country and western standards by Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, and the like. DJ Cory Tveten will spin a variety of records showcasing the best from the Grand Ole Opry. All evening there will be 2cowboywhiskeyshotsand2 cowboy whiskey shots and 2cowboywhiskeyshotsand1.50 draft beers as well as a full discounted menu. John Wayne and Gene Autry films will be shown. <o:p> <o:p> The $7 cover includes a copy of Salt’s cowboy issue, which will feature first-hand accounts from a honky-tonk bar waitress, a man traveling with one of the country’s oldest cowboy bands, a dairy farmer, and the activities director of a Boston nursing home. The issue will also include original comics by Los Angeles-based artist Megan Whitmarsh and local favorite Vomit 76. Each copy of the cowboy issue will feature a hand-screened cover printed on the antique presses of Third Termite; with design and art direction by the CROWW Group. <o:p> <o:p> Salt is a journal that is printed each season by Ellen James and Berry Steiner. Each issue explores a theme aesthetically, literally, and metaphorically. Salt is supported in part by a Seed Award from the Sprout Fund. <o:p> <o:p> Salt debuted with the pirate issue in May 2003. Since then, Salt has published a monster issue and a robot issue.
