The song that you read in the begining actually goes where Clinton Starts singing the song to Stacy when they are dancing. Sorry for the Confusion. Title: Better DaysChapter 6- Mama's SongA/N: Thanks so much to my girls who are such faithful readers! As always, feedback gets you more... ((((: Enjoy, ladies! When Stacy woke up the next day, she felt very sore from the c-section and didn't really want to move. "Clinton-" She turned her head and saw him dozing in the chair next to her bed. Sunlight was streaming through the window, warming Stacy immediately. She didn't want to wake him since she knew he had probably stayed up all night making sure she was comfortable. Instead, she paged the nurse because she wanted to see her babies. "Miss Stacy, nice to see you were able to rest!" Stacy smiled at Kerri, the nurse now on duty. "I'm ready to see my girls if that's okay?" Stacy asked, hoping she would get a 'yes' in return. "Of course it's okay, you're the momma!" "Just one problem; I don't really know if I can move.." "The soreness from your cesarean?" Stacy nodded and winced. "We can get you into a wheelchair and I'll take you to NICU." "That would be perfect." Kerri smiled. "Are they okay, like, healthy and everything?" "They sure are! They're little peanuts, but that's no surprise since you're pretty tiny yourself." "Do you think they'll be able to come home with me?" "The way it looks right now, I'm pretty positive you can take them all home with you when you're discharged." Stacy beamed with delight. Kerri wheeled Stacy into the NICU unit where her four were. They each had their own little incubator and they looked peaceful. "Can I give them names now?" "Sure! I'll pull the cards. Do you know what you wanted to name them?" "I think I have a good idea now." "Awesome. They're in birth order, so here is your oldest if you want to hold her." Kerri handed her the little muffin and Stacy was in awe. "Hi, hunny. Oh, hi baby... You're so precious and itty bitty." Stacy wiped a tear from her eyes as she held her daughter. "I want her to be Ainesley Carolyn." "That's a beautiful choice, it fits her well." Stacy looked up and smiled. She took another few minutes with Ainesley and then took her second baby out of the incubator. "You're the troublemaker, huh? Did you tell these nurses that? That you were the one who made it difficult for mommy?" Kerri laughed. "We heard rumors..." "She is definitely Avry Sienna" "Precious choice again." "Thank you." Stacy kissed Avry and put her back. "Lucky number three, what should your name be?" The infant opened her eyes and looked straight into Stacy's. Her eyes filled with tears at the moment of connection. "Ava Kelly" She sniffled as she thought of Ava's namesake, Clinton Kelly. He had been there for her, even though he didn't have to be. The last baby cried when Stacy held her. "Oh, no darling, please don't cry. Mommy's got you, I promise." The baby's cries softened with the sound of her mother's voice. "Aiyanna Grace" "You like the 'A' names, don't you?" "Well, I'm not much for matchy, rhymey names, but I like aphorisms." Kerri laughed, only Stacy London would insert a grammar notation in naming her children. Stacy spent the next hour just snuggling with each of her babies in the NICU before she brought them back to the room with her. Clinton was still asleep; he was quite the diva after all! The babies were either asleep or just looking around. Stacy was holding Avry when he began to wake up. "Hey, big guy. Sleep all right?" Stacy smiled when his eyes fluttered open. "Hey sexy momma, how are you doing?" He was mesmerized by how natural she was with Avry. "I'm great. A little sore still, but that's to be expected. It's going to take a while before I fully recover from the c-section." "I bet. Courtney said her recovery was hell." "Oh, Kelly I don't wanna hear that!" "So, don't listen! What did you name them?" "In birth order: Ainesley Carolyn, I'm holding Avry Sienna, Ava Kelly is nearest you, and then we have Aiyanna Grace." "Beautiful names, but uh, 'Kelly'?" "For you. You save me every time I need rescuing and it was the best way I could think to pay you homage." "Stace, you didn't have to repay me at all." "Of course I didn't have to, I wanted to." "Well, they are precious. I cannot believe that those four peanuts even fit inside you!" "I know, it's so weird. Ainesley weighs 4 lbs , Avry is 4 lbs. 2 oz. , Ava is 4 lbs 4 oz. and Aiyanna is 4 lbs. They're itty bitty. and each is 16 inches. Petite like mommy." "They're precious no matter what." "Thank you for being here, Clinton. I don't know what I would have done without you." "You would have soldiered on, because that's what Stacy London does."Clinton had to leave, Damon was blowing up his phone and Stacy told him to leave before Damon got too upset. As much as she loved having Clinton share that time with her, she was certainly happy to have some quiet time with her babies. The nurses came in and out for most of the morning and by lunchtime, they taught her how to nurse them. Ava was the guinea pig, and certainly enjoyed herself. Aiyanna had a hard time with her sucking reflexes though. Avry and Ainesley were fine, too. For now, none of the babies were crying, which made Stacy very happy, but she had been told by the nurses that doesn't usually last too long. She secretly hoped that her children would turn out miraculously and not cry! That night when all the visiting hours were over, Stacy opted to keep the babies in her room. The way she figured it, they hadn't caused ruckus so far, so she would be fine. They were all asleep, fed, and changed and she had eaten and showered while the nurse did some more checks on the girls. It was a 'luxurious' stay at the hospital, which was nice. Going home tomorrow would be the tricky part since she still wasn't sure how she felt about driving. She was excited and so happy that her babies were healthy and here. Yes, they were very early, but that almost didn't even matter since they were healthy. Nobody had any breathing or other functoning problems, so she was happy. The one thing Stacy wished more than anything was that Clinton would be able to stop back over, but she knew Damon and she knew that wouldn't be happening. With her luck, the next chance Clinton would have to see the babies would be at the studio. She knew she had to accept it, though since Clinton and Damon were married and she was just the friend. It sucked, but it was life. As Stacy drifted to sleep with Ava snuggled on her chest, she realized that as of that moment, she had all she needed in life. Her four babies were the most important thing in her life and everything else was just fine. Rick was out of her life for good, at least, so she hoped.Mood:blankblankMusic:[Goodbye my almost lover] Title: Better DaysChapter 5- **This Woman's Work**A/N: By now, you all know how this works...haha! Feedback gets you more reading material... Like I said, please give me suggestions in your comments as to what to add to the story! Enjoy :DAs another wave of pain hit Stacy, she grabbed her stomach with one hand and her back with the other. "Oh, god. Oh, god. Oh, no, god!" The sharpness of the pains was increasing with each one and lasting longer each time. She was having contractions. "No, this is too early. This cannot be happening. Oh my God. Ohhhh, no, no, no." Stacy was sobbing now in pain and fear. As she stood up to find her phone, she felt a gush between her legs and out of nowhere, the most intense, sharp, pain of her life. Her water broke and she was actually in labor. "Oh, my god. Oh, my god. Nooo, no, noo, noooo!" Stacy was crying, holding her stomach in pain and didn't know what to do. She dragged herself to get her hospital bag, phone, keys and headed to the car. She knew it probably wasn't the best idea to drive herself, but she knew she didn't have any time to waste. While Stacy was driving to the hospital, she thought about texting Clinton to meet her there. She convinced herself otherwise when she remembered that he was picking Damon up at the airport anyway. The contractions just kept coming and lasting and she didn't know what to do. Thankfully, the hospital was only five minutes from her house, but those five minutes took an eternity in her head. At the hospital, they admitted her right away. "Ms. London, is anyone else on their way to help you?" Stacy shook her head no through a particularly gruesome contraction. "N-no." "Okay, well, we're going to get you as comfortable as possible while we wait for Dr. Smythe, all right?" Stacy nodded. "Mhm." "Did you request any pain medication?" "No, my hope is to go natural." "Very good. Why don't you just lay there. Would you like some ice chips or anything?" Stacy didn't have much of an appetite. She was in pain, tired, and scared. "No, thank you." The nurse left and as soon as she was out of earshot, Stacy groaned in pain. "Oooohh Goddddd!" It hurt like hell, the contraction was like she was being beaten with a sledge hammer, complete with metal spokes. After all of the preparation and convincing herself she could do this on her own, Stacy had never been so scared in her life. She had made it through Rick's abuse and her entire pregnancy so far, and this is where she became really scared. When Dr. Smythe entered, she appeared worried. "Dr. Smythe, is everything okay?" Stacy's eyes widened when Dr. Smythe didn't answer right away. "Stacy, I need to check you out, but I also need to warn you that based on the monitors, it looks like at least one of your babies is breech and another is in distress. I am going to be honest with you, it is going to make for a very intense, hard, labor and delivery." "But will they be okay?" "They are healthy enough to be okay, but what's going to be tricky is that you need to remain calm. Regardless of if one baby is in distress or more than one, the more stressed you are, the more distressed they become. Okay?" Stacy nodded as another contraction hit. They were now five minutes apart. "Stacy, it looks like you're 5cm dilated, so you still have a little while to go. Are you still all set?" "Yeah, I'm fine." The doctor left and again, Stacy was alone and terrified. There was no comfort possible. It hurt to move, so Stacy couldn't even turn on her side to relieve some of her own physical stress. The contractions were brutal and she was scared. She knew that since there was distress involved, there wasn't any time to waste. She decided to swallow her pride. She called Clinton at three o'clock in the morning. "Heeeelllo?" He answered, clearly groggy from sleep "Clinton, it's me." "Stacy? Why are you calling me so late, err, early?" "Clinton, please come to the hospital. I'm in labor and I'm scared. My water broke after you left and there wasn't anything they could do to stop it, so please, please come help me." Clinton shot right up in his bed and started to get ready. "I will be there in a minute, Stace. Just hang tight." "Thank you, Clinton." "Of course, Stacy." When she hung up, she felt a very strong pressure bearing down and she realized she was inadvertently pushing. "NURSE! Doctor! Someone!!" She cried as she pressed the help button on her bed. Dr. Smythe came running in to Stacy's summons. "Stacy, what seems to be the issue?" "I think I have to push, really hard." "Are you sure? Let me check you. Sometimes we feel like we have to-" "No, Doctor, I need to push. I think I feel a head coming down and I need her out of me." Dr. Smythe examined Stacy to find that she was indeed 10 cm and ready to push. Not only was she ready to push, one of her babies was already trying to push its own way out. "Okay, Stacy, what I'm going to have you do is lift this leg onto this stirrup and the other up here, okay?" "Mhm, oh god, I really need to push, oh god" She was whimpering, and the tears were flowing. She wanted someone to hold her hand, but even Clinton probably wouldn't make it on time for this baby. "Now, Stacy when I tell you to, you have to bear down. It's going to be a lot of pressure, but you have to do it. Okay, ready, push-" Stacy pushed. "Ohhhhhhhh daaaamn it. Oh my goooooood" She screamed and with two pushes and as Clinton rushed in, she heard screams, tiny little screams coming from her newborn daughter. Clinton ran over to her side and kissed her forehead. The baby was placed on Stacy briefly enough for her to see her daughter for the first time. "She's beautiful-absolutely gorgeous, Stace." She smiled through her tears. "You made it," "Of course I did. You think I would miss this for anything?" She smiled. The NICU nurse took the baby to check her out, clean her up and bundle her up. As she did, another contraction hit and Stacy threw her head back in pain. I don't think I can do this, holy christ!" "Stacy," Clinton squeezed her hand gently "You can do this, and you will do this." "Easy for you to say!" A few minutes later, Stacy felt the urge to push again. "Are you ready again, Stacy?" She nodded, but wouldn't look at anyone. Clinton stood by her side and let her squeeze his hand. "And...push" She pushed as she panted for breath. The nurse placed an oxygen mask on her for a minute in between pushes. "Nothing is working. Why?" She was dejected and scared. Dr. Smythe examined her."Stacy, I don't want to alarm you, because this is very common, but this second baby is transversal. Although you felt the pressure to push, she won't come out vaginally." "What does that mean?" Stacy was even more scared now. "It means we're going to have to admit you for an emergency c-section." "No, no, no, nooooo" She was sad and scared now. "Stacy, you have to let the doctors do what they have to in order to bring your babies here healthy. Right?" Stacy nodded through her tears. "So we're going to prep you now, but Mr. Kelly is going to have to meet us in there just before we operate, okay?" She nodded and Clinton followed suit. "Where's my other baby? Oh, owwwwww" Another contraction hit, causing Stacy to want to push. "She is with the NICU nurses, still getting checked out and cleaned up. She appears to be very healthy, though. It's just protocol for preemies."Clinton walked with them as they wheeled Stacy down to the O.R. "I'm going to be right out here until they tell me to come in, sweetie. I'm not going anywhere, I promise." Stacy nodded. "Okay." In the O.R. they prepped Stacy with an I.V.and regional anesthesia so she would stay awake. She shivered because it felt freezing. She wanted Clinton to hold her hand and tell her it would be all right. She wanted her babies here and safe. About 20 minutes later, Clinton walked in and sat on a stool next to Stacy. "Okay, London, you just stay calm because they're gonna start." She smiled, nervous, but thankful that she wasn't having any pain. Shortly after, she heard screeches. Her second baby girl was now a part of the world. Dr. Smythe held her up so Stacy could see, but Stacy couldn't see through her tears. The nurse allowed Clinton to hold the baby for Stacy while Dr. Smythe delivered the third baby. "Hi, sweetheart. You're so teeny and stubborn, huh? Yeah, you got Mommy where she's laying right now, didn't you?" Stacy kissed the baby's tiny head and closed her eyes until she heard another set of lungs clearing with screams. "3 down, London. Think you can handle one more?" Stacy nodded. The sounds of her baby's screams filled the operating room and she couldn't help but smile. And within minutes after seeing her third baby for the first time, she heard the cries of her fourth and final baby girl. Now it was Stacy's turn to cry as she was shown her baby. She had done it, her babies were finally here. Clinton was by her side, tearing up himself because he was so proud of Stacy. When Stacy was wheeled down to a recovery room, she slept for hours and dreamt of her new babies. It was the first night of sleep she had gotten in a long time and although she couldn't wait to hold her babies, her sleep took precedence for this one night. Clinton stayed with her and held her hand. As the pain medication wore off and she slept through it, he watched the winces on her face. He was grateful that she was able to sleep through that detox. Watching her sleep was like watching an angel rest. Beautiful. What he really couldn't get over was how he had been there for her when she brought her most prized possessions into the world; her daughters.Mood:anxiousanxiousMusic:[Who do you think you are, running around leaving scars?] Title: Better Days Chapter 4- _Will You Be Around?_A/N: I am loving the feedback from everybody! In an effort to keep the twists and drama up, please feel free to comment any ideas I could use to make the story better. (I will credit you if you want!) Enjoy!!A few weeks after buying everything she needed for the babies, they resumed taping episodes of What Not to Wear. It certainly wasn't Stacy's first choice of what to do while she was nearly seven months' pregnant but then, she didn't have much say in the matter. She had to soldier through it. The bright side was due to her being pregnant, they stayed within reasonable driving distance for ambushes since she couldn't fly. It was nice to have Clinton back in her life, but he wasn't nearly as involved as he used to be. She wondered if it was because of Damon, or himself. She would always be attracted to him, no matter what. Whatever his reason was, though, he would never be able to reciprocate those feelings. "Honestly, hun, I think that a polka dot alpine wool sweater is a bit eclectic for a ninety year old Heidi impersonator, never mind a twenty year old nursing student. It has to go!" Stacy said as she trashed a participant's prized, thrift shop sweater. "But, but, my sister gave me that!" Stacy rolled her eyes in Clinton's direction. That was total bullshit. "Maye, you know that's a lie! It's okay to admit you bought such a heinous item, just let us trash it!" Clinton smirked, Stacy London's hormones were wild enough as they were, forget the seven months' pregnant with quadruplets hormones she was facing. "Clinton, this is not funny!" He busted out laughing. "London, this is freakin' hilarious. You are on fire right now!" She glared at him and he immediately sobered up. As Helen called a cut on the day, Stacy winced as she felt a kick. "You okay, Stace?" Clinton asked as he held her back for support. "I'm fine, just one of them kicked me really hard. It's okay, I promise." Clinton wasn't sure he believed her, but he went with it. "So, what are you doing tonight, Miss London?" She turned her head his way and laughed. It was as if he actually thought she had a social life anymore. "Most likely just going home to get baby stuff ready. Put clothes in the dresser, you know. Why do you ask?" Clinton didn't really have a reason to ask, he was just merely curious. "I didn't know if you wanted somebody to cook for you is all. Damon went out of town and I was just going to see if you wanted a nicely cooked Kelly meal..." He honestly expected her to say no. Why would she after all? To his surprise, however, her eyes lit up and she nodded her head. "Please, come over. I would love some of your cooking and I still haven't picked out their outfits to wear home from the hospital." "Really?" "If you want to, then yes, please!" He smiled, this was exactly what he had hoped she would say.Back at Stacy's house, Clinton was smiling as he absorbed all she had done to "baby-ize" her once diva-licious home. There were already toys everywhere from bouncy seats, teddy bears, and boppy cushions. "Well, London you certainly appear ready for these girls to be here..." Stacy walked down the hall, now wearing an old, raggy tshirt and slouchy sweatpants with her stomach hanging out. She was so tiny, the bump just looked cute on her. "Thanks, Kelly. I think I'm ready. At least, I like to tell myself that I am. There are definitely days where I wake up and am scared shitless. But I know it will all be worth it in the end." "That's right, Stacy. You are going to be fantastic. I can already see it." "Aw, Clinton..." Tears filled her eyes. There were those damn hormones again. After eating Clinton's delicious cobb salad with organic fettucine pesto, Stacy took him into the nursery. "Stacy, this is amazing. I can't believe you did this by yourself!" "I was motivated once I found out I was having four girls. It was easy." "You just said manual labor was easy. This world must be ending." "Shut up!" They both laughed. Stacy sat in the rocker and folded socks and towels as Clinton looked through the dressers. "Stacy, your babies are going to have so much clothes, will they even have enough time to wear all of them before they outgrow them?" Stacy's eyes widened. "I hope so. I mean, babies need to be changed a lot, don't they?" "Yeah, you have a point." "Oh, thank god. I was worried." "Since when do you get worried about having too many items of clothing?" They both laughed. By the time Clinton left that evening, they had picked out the outfits that Stacy's babies would come home from the hospital in. Stacy went to sleep feeling accomplished. Unfortunately, she could tell already that it was going to be one of those nights where she got very little sleep. Her babies kept kicking her, hard and she was really suffering as a result. Normally it was cute when they kicked, but today, it was really hard and hurt really badly. She ached all over, especially her back and she just wanted to sleep, but couldn't find a comfortable position. She 'woke' around 12:45 and padded downstairs to make some tea. Her doctor had told her that sometimes, chamomile tea was all she would need to relax herself and the babies. It usually worked. She took a sip of the scalding liquid and nearly doubled over. An excruciating pain shot through her back and she whimpered as another pain wave hit. She knew what was going on, and she was very scared.Mood:mellowmellowMusic:[You're gonna catch a cold, from the ice inside your soul] Previous 10 EntriesTop of Page | |
