What have your expieriences been with 'appointment only' classes?

I'm thinking of signing up for CAS 296, which is by appointment only, but I've never taken a class like this before. I've emailed someone about it, but their not really getting back to me. Are they really different from regular classes as far as formatting goes? Has anyone specifically taken CAS 296 and can give me some pointers? Or just any in general about these types of classes is much appreciated:)

TIA.

Can anyone who has taken any/all of these classes give me some feedback on them?

COMM 401 with Risley
COMM 411 with Hagopian
COMM 413W with Sethuraman

I also have the choice between 411 and 413W but I was thinking of going to both of their first classes and seeing which one I like better. Has anyone who has taken both of these classes have a recommendation?

TIA

11:41AM - Summer Sublet

So in a weird turn of events, everyone who I was going to sublet from bailed on me. I went online and emailed about 50 people who were subletting their apartments and either their apartments are taken or they are just not emailing me back.

I need an apartment that is walking distance to campus. I would like my own room if at all possible and I need the apartment from July 1st to August 15-20th. Female living situations only! and I'm quite negotiable concerning the rest.

If you know anything or anyone subletting direct them to me- hwi5000@psu.edu

Thanks alot,
Hana

6:00PM - Study sites

So apparently every department(or most of them), have websites where students can sign up to participate in certain studies. Any one know of some websites? I found one for the Economics department, but I'm sure there's others around, besides ads in the Collegian.

I'm taking enough credits as I'd like to be taking. I just dropped my math class which lowered me down three credits and I would like to take a class replacing it. I know, I know, its the middle of october, but can anybody out there point me in the direction of a class or subject that might have a class that I can late add?

Please, no lectures-just helpful, friendly advice if you have some.

Thanks:)

3:30PM - Small carpet for sale

I am selling a 6x9 tan-ish carpet, perfect for dorm rooms! It doesn't shed and it is like a real carpet a person would put down in a house. I got it from a professional place my grandfather worked at. The picture is coming (if I can find it) but I am asking for around $45. I'm willing to negotiate.
Let me know ASAP.

Where is everyone working this fall? Are you working part-time or full-time? How's the pay? Do you have expierience there?

I'm starting at University Park as a junior. I was hired for a cooking position at a small restaurant and the pay is minimum wage :/ I'm paying for tuition and rent, so this salary is no where near enough. I'm looking for a second job that pays a bit better than minimum wage. I've applied to about seven places, and have heard back from 2. The one place is the one with which I'm currently employed, and the other-a restaurant on College Ave., is playing phone tag with me and doesn't seem to hold much interest.

So suggestions?

I'm coming up to University Park this Wednesday to start applying for jobs. Any places/companies/restaurants you recommend or don't recommend? Tips, of any sort, are appreciated, especially stories if you have any.

Thanks!
