[**mood** |boredbored]I read on imdb (I KNOW) that PT has recently been packing on the pounds. (Well, they are pregnant!) I want to see pictures! POST if you have any. Also, he quit smoking? UGH. He's turning all good now that he is settling down. Anyway, There Will Be Blood is a stupid title for a movie. Especially since he's titled his other films so well. He needs to mix it up a bit.

Chest and Brock Reunion 2005 [Sep. 6th, 2005|06:46 pm]Fan of Paul Thomas Anderson
Hi there,This is kind of a 'hello post' as I am fairly new to Livejournal. To further meander in classic hobo-style, I just want to mention how excited I am about PTA's next project, There Will Be Blood (formerly Oil). What I am impressed by is the daringly ambitious scope of this project. With an avowedly political context to the Upton Sinclair novel - or so I'm led to believe - that charts an oil-rich families fortunes, I guess we can expect lots of timely comparisons to the Bush clan's clams and how they were accumulated.I cannot think of another director working today - other than the slim survivors of the once rotund 70's - who would dare to move into such panoramic territory. But coming as he does from that late 90's wave of young directors, who seemed to make irony and indifference into an art form, the scale of where PTA seems to be headed only pushes him ever further out from the competition and onto solid, even timeless, territory.I believe David Fincher is also making a 'comeback' of sorts next year. Charlie Kaufman and Spike Jonze are also rummaging about on something. There are encouraging signs from various other quaters also - after such a disasterous and monotonous year for Hollywood also, it is possible that more daring projects will be greenlit. But, based on nothing other than gut instinct and the fact that he has already proven himself to be a moving-image genius (in the real, rather than the contemporary, sense of the word), I suspect that PTA's next project may well seem him elevated to the status of one of the greats. No other living artist is so exciting or promising! Now, give me a P...Give me a T...Give me an A...What have we got? "Hot fuck action to the max..."
