Use of positron emission tomography to study cocaine in the human brain
N D Volkow et al. NIDA Res Monogr. 1991.
Abstract
It is feasible to directly image and measure the concentration of different drugs of abuse and their consequences on regional brain function and neurotransmitter activity with PET. Although PET is a relatively new technique, it already is proving to be useful in disclosing the mechanisms of toxicity reinforcement and addition of drugs of abuse.
