Abstract
In the current issue of Molecular Cell, Hoeller et al. (2007) demonstrated that proteins bearing ubiquitin-binding domains (UBDs) can be ubiquitinated directly by E2-conjugating enzymes, bypassing the requirement for E3 ubiquitin ligases.
