Through these systems tales, stories, linguistic terminology, forms of organization and cultural aspects are manifested. These cultural aspects allow viewing through them a process of integrative acculturation where innovations - seen more as technological innovations - are generating a process of cultural assimilation. These innovations that allow a better access to water, have generated changes in the livelihoods of the families with which I have work with and with the people I have spoken to.

It has made progress in the last ten years that achieved a considerable reduction in the number of children suffering from these diseases (IBRD / WB, 2017). Seeking to further expand the concept of malnutrition (Del Pino et al., 2012), the study - on which this text is based - found a relationship between the construction of a new irrigation system - locally called communal dams - and the effects that took part in the agricultural activities and nutrition of the families of the district of San Andrés de Tupicocha, province of Huarochirí, Lima region. The initial study collected testimonies where some interviewees perceived changes in 1) the products that they previously cultivated with respect to those that are now cultivated, 2) the fate that these products had before - for self-consumption - with which they have now - sale in the market -, and 3) family feeding that is directly related to the two previous points. Thus, the analysis here considers consider - and include - new factors that influenced the situation of malnutrition in Tupicocha, where communal dams generated changes that altered access to products that, according to the same testimonies, would have greater nutritional value in the district of San Andrés de Tupicocha.
