The Duke University Religion Index and Parent-Teen Sexual Risk Communication Scale-III was used to measure religiosity and parental communication. There were 130 participants living in the United States and 247 living in the Philippines included in this study. Among respondents from the Philippines, low levels of parental communication were associated with an increased report for the lack of condom use during the last intercourse. Catholics had a decreased likelihood of alcohol or illicit drug use before intercourse, having had multiple sex partners, and engaging in casual sex. Those who had low levels of religiosity were associated with reports of having had casual sex. Among the United States respondents, those who engaged in alcohol or illicit drug use before sexual intercourse were associated with decreased organizational religious activities. The findings of this study confirmed the need for comprehensive and culturally appropriate approaches to health promotion programs that incorporate religious and familial factors appropriate for Filipinos.

For those who may be coming out of the closet (revealing their identities to others) or coming to understand their own sexuality and gender, family, friends, and the local community may be more or less supportive of their choice to come out. Transformative learning is a helpful theory for understanding the shifting landscape of LGBTQIA lives, whether shifting due to time or location. The complexity of LGBTQIA lives leads to an unfolding of personal identity through time given this rapidly shifting landscape.

This included both the regular and part time faculty members of PUP-LGU Campuses in Laguna The study utilized the quantitative research method and the descriptive type of research. The 94 respondents of the study were randomly chosen from 184 Regular and Part Time faculty members of PUP-LGU Campuses in the Province of Laguna for School Year 2016-2017. The researcher used the questionnaire and made personal interviews to randomly selected faculty members. The data gathered were tabulated through the form of frequency percentage distribution, percentage, T test, and One-Way ANOVA. Based on the findings, it was concluded that the respondents have a consensus that they are able to practice and demonstrate relevant research skills, they are able to work harmoniously and emphatically with their network and respective team in a collaborative effort. Thus, it was recommended that those teachers who are in their early years of teaching must be given support in terms of research training that will supplement the need to demonstrate research efficacy even though they are still learning their way through their academic career. Moreover, all the faculty must undergo a relevant research training to properly gauge the competency needed. For instance, LGU funded campuses may embark a collaborative research undertaking that will foster research culture among the campuses, develop a local campus research agenda in line with the university research and implement the action plan that will develop the research efficacy of the faculty members with required outputs as demonstrated in the attached proposed action plan.

The country’s firm stand on improving the human capital, and its science, technology and innovation (Philippine Development Plan [PDP], 2017) is our way towards concretizing Education 4.0, to help bridge us to the FIRe phenomenon (featuring technological revolution to converge and fuse human and the cyber world [Van Duuren 2017] through analytics, artificial intelligence, cognitive technologies and the internet of things [IoT] Renjen 2018]to design interconnected digital enterprises capable of more informed decision making tasks [Mars et al., 2014]). We also confirm that a strong STEAM (professionals, and education) will contribute to the knowledge society and economy of the country (Government Office of the Slovak Republic 2018; Morales, 2017), as well as improve its economic competence and competitiveness (English, 2016). The Philippine context STEAM (where “A” refers to Agri/fisheries) in higher and advanced learning focuses on several aspects of teaching and learning, and on the merging of the disciplines to teach a particular STEAM content (Morales et al., 2019), thus, we explore the possibility of generating the Philippine STEAM Education model as our blueprint for STEAM higher and advanced learning and our way towards realizing the country’s development plan themed as AmbisyonNatin 2040 (PDP, 2017). We theorize that weaving all concepts and principles drawn from the nation’s policies, standards, and guidelines defined by its Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for the individual STEAM programs, tempered by the principles of the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers, and looking at these extracted principles, ideas and concepts from the lens of TPACK may help define a contextualized model for the Philippines, which the current study, “TPACK in Philippine STEAM Education,” shares.

Respondents (N = 3,648) are taken from two State universities (urban and provincial) and two private universities (urban and provincial) in the Philippines using the measure for Students’ Attitudes towards Religion. We analyzed the results using Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA). The Omnibus test and interaction results suggest that university type and location have significant effects on students’ religious attitudes. Public school students tend to score higher in terms of belief, affective and behavioral sub-scales. The outcomes revise traditional perceptions about student religiosity and spirituality in public school vis-a-vis private school.

A researcher-made instrument was used to gather the data. This instrument underwent content validation and reliability testing. A total of 109 college students in a higher education institution during the first semester of School Year 2015-2016 were randomly chosen as participants. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation were employed to determine the level of students’ motivation, perception of school climate and the level of parent’s support. Spearman rho was also used to determine which of the factors had influence to the academic performance of students. Results reveal that the participants had high level of motivation, and perceived the school climate as very satisfactory and had assessed their parental support as low. Moreover, only parental support and students’ attendance significantly influenced academic performance. From the findings of the study, it implies that college students, as individuals, still need the support of parents not just financially, but morally as well, in their academic endeavors. Hence, parents are encouraged to give their support to their children in all forms.

This study was conducted to assess the current Extension program of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP). Some 74 beneficiaries from the 23 centers of Sta. Mesa, Manila were identified through the use of purposive sampling. The data gathering made use of aided surveys. Weighted Mean and Pearson Product Moment of Correlation was used to treat and process statistical data. Findings revealed that the Extension Services conducted by the PUP Salin Kaalaman Tungo sa Kaunlaran Extension Program (SALIN) were highly effective regarding Information Dissemination, Staff and Officials, Trainings and Programs, Trainers and Speakers, Programs, Accommodation and Venue and the personal impact of the Extension Program to the Beneficiaries. Satisfaction rating on the extension program was also high. Further, this study found out that as respondents are satisfied with the implementation of SALIN, the greater the chance of positive assessment on the effectiveness of the project. The study also disclosed problems and recommendations identified by the respondents. In addressing the research gaps, this study further identified recommendations to enhance capabilities of program implementers such as better execution in the delivery of extension services, fund sourcing and forging linkages or networking.

It consists of a set of interpretive, material practices that makes the world visible. These practices transform the world. They turn the world into a series of representations, including field notes, interviews, conversations, photographs, recordings, and memos to the self. At this level, qualitative research involves an interpretive, naturalistic approach to the world. This means that qualitative researchers study things in their natural settings, attempting to make sense of, or to interpret, phenomena in terms of the meanings people bring to them.
Research is undertaken within most professions.
