great pyrenees (original) (raw)

This is my boy Gryff. He had my heart since I set eyes on him.
Needless to say I'm quite smitten with him.

hi, i'm thinking of getting a pyrenees, i have grown up around dogs and understand the level if care and exercise needed, the only things i am worried about is i will be living in a flat and i'm not sure if my dog would have enough space, obviously i would be taking her 3 long walks a day, playing with her and taking her mountain climbing when i have the time but at least once a month. do yous think that would be ok? and how high is the risk of epilepsy? does anyone know? its not that i'm unwilling to look after a dog with health problems, in fact if i do get a pyrenees, it will most likely be from a rescue center or one with health problems that other people cant deal with, its just that i had a border terrier with a brain tumor and epilepsy and eventually, he got very ill and died, it wad the hardest thing i have ever had to watch because there was nothing we could do to help him and my little sister has epilepsy as well. i would be very greatful of any advice anyone could give me. thank you x

Hi, I just joined and thought I would share some pictures of my Kiba (means 'fang' in Japanese). The first picture is of him giving me the evil eye for disturbing his nap (he was about 8 weeks old at the time). The second is Kiba doing his routine checks...he has a 'patrol' he does every few hours (about 13 months with our pug, Babygirl, in the background...damage to the couch and curtains is courtesy of Kiba with a little help from our other pets)! He was needing a good bath and brushing in that picture but for some reason I've always liked it. He is about 15 months old now and even though it can sometimes be a little overwhelming having such a big dog in the house (he was 102 lbs and still growing at his 1 yr check-up) , I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world!

We finally figured it out! The snuggly warm dog hat and scarf is finally here! After some long, hard, tedious work, we finally got them past production! We made them in 3 sizes, XS, SM, M/L. We're also almost done with the slotted hats for the ears to poke out of. I'll post images of those when they're finally ready as well!

Thanks everyone for all the feedback and suggestions! You flippin' ROCK!

So last night I was going through last winter's bag of ideas for winter dog hats and I found this funny red corduroy one which Stewie just loves to wear. I always laugh so hard when he wears this one but it poses a good question for this season's line of winter-wear....

QUESTION:
What is in more of demand by the customer???
a) Dog hats with cute lil teddy ears on the side or
b) Dog hats with lil slits for the pet's real ears to poke out of?

Help me out here... Let's put it to a VOTE!

Hey guys, I thought you all might be really interested in ZooToo.com which is a new social network for animal lovers (just like I said in the subject haha). I actually found my groomer with it using their pet services function. So if you're like me and have a dog AND a cat, this is a place where you can put them (and other kinds of pets/animals) up in your own zoo. there's also pet news, meet-up groups, product reviews by members, and tons of other stuff.

Anyway, just thought I'd share. I'm looking to gain friends on there! OH and i almost forgot to mention that they do good for the animal community by making over shelters and giving a portion of the ad rev gained by people being on the site to shelters. i think that the more you use the site/invite people/make friends, the more goes to the shelter of your choice... hence my motivation to get friends!!!!

Add me!!!!

Hey everyone!

Today I'm going to meet Bear, who is a Pyrenees/Lab mix. We're going to bring him home with us for a month, kind of like a 30-day-trial, and if he doesn't work out for us then we can give him back. But he's so adorable! And I really hope he fits in with us because I would be disappointed if we had to give him back. :/

Anyway, I hope this is allowed since he's not a purebred Pyrenees. Maybe I'll edit this post later with pictures!

Hi! I'm new in this community. I've owned one Pyrenees previously, a boy named Bosley, but now I'm about to get another boy, who is all white. My mother and I want to name him something that begins with a 'W', so does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!
Anna

Fred came to our farm with his brother Barney to protect our over 150 goats. Barney is content living with the goats but Fred is not. He kept escaping to come and play with our young child and other farm dog. He is not cut out to be a goat protection dog but he is cut out to be a great pet! He is now living in the house and doing great. House training is going great with no accidents so far. He is also working on leash manners and is doing well. He is cautious at times and I have to pull him! (For example he stops walking as we get near the road and will not go any farther) He does however seem to get over his apprehensions after he experiences something once or twice. He is happy and playful and good with other dogs. We have a few cats around and he is ok with them too. We would be thrilled to see him find a loving home. We did trade some expensive goats for him and his brother so will ask for $100.00. He is mostly white with a subtle balack mask around the eyes.

Faraday is a little over a year old. He really is a gentle giant.

( low res images but several of themCollapse )

I observed this weekend that Faraday and I have the same size feet. His front paws are as wide if not wider than my feet.

i have also just changed the layout here, if anyone wants to make a community icon please feel free to do so.. or if you have any better ideas for the layout let me know!

Watching a full grown, over large Pyr trying to stand with all 4 paws on a small round patio stone is kind of like going to the circus and watching an elephant stand on one of those trick platforms.
