TGIF, everyone!
Video: 66 by the Afghan Whigs
Vidded by: sisabet & Dr. Dawn
Timeframe: Season 1-3
Time count: 3:22
Rating: R
Warnings: None
Why I Recommend This Vid: For my first rec, I'm going to go with a fandom classic. I think that this is one of the first videos that I'd recommend to anyone new to Queer as Folk vidders. It's by sisabet who has two previous selections here. It really encompasses Brian and Justin from Season 1 through Season 3 with the lyrics set to the appropriate clips. One of the lines is, "Tell me baby can you shake it?" And we have Justin from the King of Babylon contest, swinging his hips perfect in time with the beat of the song. It's a Brian POV video, expressing his feelings (as the viewer sees him) through the song lyrics. It has to be seen to describe how well it suits him. It's one of my favorites from one of the best that fandom had to offer.

Well, hello everyone!
First of all, I want to say a big, big thank you to both severina2001 and ayesakara for creating this wonderful community. I certainly think that it has a place in fandom and that's where I come in. I'm the new owner/maintainer of the community and want to say hello to both members and watchers!
I've been in QaF fandom for almost 8 years now and have seen a lot of great fic and great fanvids made. I run an archive site for Queer Eyes, the original site created by paddies. I've been doing the QaF Valentine's Day Extravaganza in my journal for 3 years. And I also run qafcaps.com to provide you with quality screencaps from the series.
There's my resume in this little fandom of ours. I hope to be able to rec you with some oldies but goodies and maintain the overall quality of recommendations.
Again, big thank you to severina2001 and ayesakara for passing on the torch, so to speak. They'll still be around and yes, feel free to throw in some recs, ladies! Would love to hear from you guys in here again because you did a fantastic job. Everyone post love for them in comments.

And a lovely late season 5 interlude:
Title: This is What I Want to Tell You
Written by: xhaleslowly
Timeframe: 511 gapfiller
Word count: 2046
Rating: R
Warnings: Nothing
Why I Recommend This Fic:
Because I love 511. I love the proposal, both of them, but especially the second one. I love Brian's vulnerability and Justin's acceptance. That last scene, no matter how corny, was what saved season 5 for me. That look on Justin's face, when he finally got what Brian was telling him. When he knew Brian was serious. That look showed me that, after everything they'd been through, Justin still loved Brian. Very, very much. After that, I could take anything. I knew Brian and Justin were meant to be together, forever, no matter what the distance and no matter how much time passed. This story captures Justin's thoughts and emotions through the whole episode, as he finally comes full circle, and accepts what was so achingly being offered: Brian's love for him, for eternity. Go read now! :)

Double recs time! A golden oldie, first:
Title: Medium Security
Written by: gaedhal
Timeframe: AR (Alternate Reality set in the year 1978)
Word count: 5 parts; 180 chapters, go figure
Rating: R
Warnings: Violence
Why I Recommend This Fic:
Because who doesn't love a Brian/Justin prison fic set in an Alternate Reality? The story uses characters that those who're already familiar with gaedhal's Queer Theories would recognize (like the despicable Ron Rosenblum ;)), but even if you haven't read that AU, it's okay. It's not stuff meant for the happy, fluffy fic readers. It's violent and painful and angsty and at times tragic, but... it's addictive stuff. And we have Protective!Brian taking care of Justin, the boy he falls for without realizing he's falling for him. Yep, just like in canon. ;) Plus, despite all the pain, it's a story about love and hope and the light at the end of the dark tunnel. I would never rec it otherwise. :) Go check it out.

And now the vid:
Video: Unconditional // "What About Now" by Daughtry
Vidded by: dreamrequiem
Timeframe: All Seasons
Time count: 4:15
Rating: R
Warnings: Nothing
Why I Recommend This Vid:
Because, first of all, it's a brand new vidder to me, and a damn good one at that. So rare to find a well-done new QAF vid these days. Second, because it's ensemble that goes for all seasons and the vidder gets all the characters. Good music, great editing, very nicely done over all. Go check it out!

First of all, I hope everyone had a great Christmas. :) I come bearing two recs this time, both brand spanking new. First the fic:
Title: Business Casual
Written by: not_yet_defined
Timeframe: Season 3 gapfiller
Word count: 1403
Rating: R
Warnings: Nothing
Why I Recommend This Fic:
Because it's set in the happy post-Ethan era of season three, and who doesn't like to read about B/J interaction during that time? And because, while B/J angst is a good thing, B/J playfulness and the boys trying to make their non-relationship work in their own way is more than good; it's fanf**kingtastic. A short, sweet and fun piece written for the latest qaf_giftxchnge challenge. Read and enjoy. :)

Video: Fresh Feeling - the vid // Eels
Vidded by: f1renze
Timeframe: Seasons 3-4
Time count: 2:46
Rating: R
Warnings: Nothing
Why I Recommend This Vid:
Because it's gorgeous and beautifully done with f1renze's signature prowess as a Master Vidding Diva! ;) Lovely song, lovely scenes. Justin consumes Brian's whole life. You can see it in his eyes. How can Justin ever miss the starry-eyed look, huh? ;) Wonderful stuff. Go download and don't forget to leave feedback!

Because there was no rec last weekend (I know, it's becoming a habit, sorry!), I'm doing two tonight. What's interesting about these lovely recs is that they're a pair of fic and vid which were based on one song, and done as a collaboration by the author and vidder during the season 4/5 hiatus. Here's the fic:
Title: Fresh Feeling - the fic
Written by: burnitbackwards
Timeframe: Season 4 AU
Word count: 1630
Rating: R
Warnings: Nothing
Why I Recommend This Fic:
Because its schmoopy and sweet and leaves all sorts of fuzzy/happy feelings in your heart. Based in an AU before season 5 -- which, mind you, I don't hate like most others do ;) -- we're left with the best case scenario for our boys. It's the most perfect ending to Brian and Justin's saga that could've happened. Well, I love angst, but sometimes, fuzzy, snuggly happiness also helps, and this fic has that in spades. Justin has no clue what he means to Brian. Hmm... that is true for canon too, hee. Go read and enjoy!

And rec # 2:
Title: Snow & Shadow
Written by: oasis6028
Timeframe: Post season 5
Word count: 4 chapters
Rating: R
Warnings: Nothing
Why I Recommend This Fic:
Because... when are cute Gus and Brian and Justin bonding moments in fic enough to digest? NEVER. A lovely multi-chaptered fic that involves a winter vacation, lots of snow, and kittens. What's not to like? Gus has his dad wrapped around his little finger too. And there's lovely Brian/Justin moments to enjoy too. Go read!

I know, I know... I've been MIA for the last couple of weeks, so apologies for that. Work's been really hectic lately; plus this was the Eid-ul-Azha long weekend. I finally go back to work tomorrow after 4 blissful days off. So not looking forward to that. Oh well. Anyways, I thought I'd treat you guys to two recs tonight; one of them a vid -- as it's been a while since I last recced one. So here goes, rec # 1:
Video: Lost in Space // The Lighthouse Family
Vidded by: kitkatbyte
Timeframe: Seasons 3-4
Time count: 3:46
Rating: R
Warnings: Nothing
Why I Recommend This Vid:
Because I'm always in the mood for a feel-good vid rec, and when you're looking for well-done feel-good vids, you can't go wrong with kitkatbyte. On the show they tried to make us think that Justin had to run after Brian year after year, didn't they? Oh, that at least was the impression they tried to create in the beginning. But the truth was: Justin is and always has been the little blond satellite Brian circles around. Yes, he really is. :D Extremely schmoopy and loving and adorable stuff. This vid makes you wanna hug them both and squeeze 'em real tight. Only Wendy can make me react that way with a vid. Check it out and enjoy!
