Having just completed my research project on the conflation of mental illness and terrorism, I am fascinated by discourses on mental health including stigma across various facets of society.
In April 2017, I presented my dissertation, entitled ''Mentally ill' or 'terrorist': a discourse and ethnographic approach to the framing in British newspapers regarding the murderer of politician Jo Cox', at the Undergraduate Linguistics Association of Great Britain (ULAB) at the University of Cambridge. I completed a four-part methodology, including interviews with tabloid and broadsheet journalists, regarding the discourses surrounding white terrorism and 'lone wolves'.
