The Subject-oriented Business Process Management (S-BPM) paradigm provides concepts and methods t... more The Subject-oriented Business Process Management (S-BPM) paradigm provides concepts and methods to support the development of in- and inter-organizational parallel and distributed processes. S-BPM Process Models are directly executable and formal execution semantics enable different software development teams to develop S-BPM engines with equivalent execution behavior. We did a state of the art analysis of existing formal S-BPM execution semantics and analyzed the required language elements of an advanced smart energy grid Process Model. We extended an existing Abstract State Machines (ASM) specification to close the identified specification gaps.

Web Services bzw. das Konzept einer Service-Orientierten Architektur (SOA) versprechen, einem Großteil dieser Bedürfnisse gerecht werden zu können. Für die Forschung ergeben sich aus dem Übergang zu SOA zahlreiche Forschungsfelder. Einer der prominentesten Leitgedanken für SAP Research ist hierbei die Vision eines " Business Web " , einer umfassenden Plattform zur dynamischen Komposition betriebswirtschaftlicher Funktionen und Dienste.

Anschliesend liegt der Betrachtungsschwerpunkt mit Smart Mobility Services auf der Domane des stadtischen Verkehrs. Hierbei kann man zwei Gruppen unterscheiden: Die Anbieter entwickeln Modelle fur Betriebssystem, Datenbanken, Programmiersprachen oder Entwurf. Die Benutzer verwenden die Ansatze, um objektorientierte Anwendungen zu erstellen. Idealerweise sollten die angebotenen Modelle den Anforderungen der Benutzer gerecht werden. Im Fall des objektorientierten Ansatzes trifft dieses Grundprinzip nur bedingt zu. Da es sich um ein relativ neues Forschungsgebiet handelt, werden die entwickelten Modelle zudem mit einer gewissen Skepsis betrachtet. Es ist daher sinnvoll, die wichtigsten Vor- und Nachteile anhand einiger zentraler Thesen zu diskutieren.

As "traditional" Web Service technologies are making their way into the mainstream distributed co... more As "traditional" Web Service technologies are making their way into the mainstream distributed computing, Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) gain more and more momentum in current and future IT infrastructures. In this talk, we give a motivation for doing such a transition from a market area point of view and present SAP's answer on the raising demand: The SAP Enterprise Services Architecture (ESA). The Enterprise Services Architecture comprises five key elements. Two of them are directly related with research topics in the area of Semantic Web Services. The second part of the talk gives an insight in current SAP Research activities and how they address challenges in Web Services.
