Many countries have put more effort into securing vaccines and therapeutic medicines. In the meantime, there has been a large number of scholarly efforts in figuring out the relationship between smoking and new coronary pneumonia. This study firstly collected daily data (the number of people hospitalized with new coronary pneumonia, severe cases, and the number of people double-vaccinated against new coronary pneumonia in various countries or regions) and annual data (the human development index and smoking rate of each country or region). We collected data from 160 countries from the Our Data World database. The time is for January 1, 2020 through June 30, 2022. We divided daily and annual data into the first-level and second-level data. Finally, we checked the relationship between smoking and COVID-19 in a Hierarchical Linear Model (HLM). The result shows that smoking raises the number of new cases of infection and death among people fully vaccinated per hundred. There is a partial mediating effect of new cases smoothed per million over new deaths smoothed per million. Smoking significantly increases the effect of new cases smoothed per million over new deaths smoothed per million. Our findings have high generalizability around the world.

The research used the purposive sampling method to collect data from the Women Farmers Group (WFG) "Tapa Walla Badi" in Mbatakapidu village, East Sumba, Indonesia. The survey was conducted from November through December 2021 with the valid sample for analysis was 200 questionnaires. The Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) was used for analysis. The bootstrapping and the Sobel test were required for a better understanding of the findings. Robust test and focus group discussion (FGD) made our methodology more reliable. The findings show that financial literacy plays an important role in the transformation of rural microfinance institutions (MFIs). Financial literacy works positively on the sustainability of rural microfinance via governance. Age, gender, education, and employment situation were taken into account in financial literacy. This research provides a comprehensive view to policymakers in developing rural MFIs, thus implies the urgency to promote financial literacy and improve governance structures within MFIs. The local government may create pro-financial inclusion policies that support sustainable MFIs by implementing financial literacy curriculum in formal and non-formal education.

Accordingly, a more comprehensive understanding of the determinant factors of microfinance sustainability is necessary to implement further these financial institutions in rural areas. This research seeks to develop sustainability microfinance models and policy formulation to alleviate poverty in rural communities in East Sumba. We collect the data by distributing questionnaires to 148 stakeholders of the Tapa Walla Badi microfinance group in Mbatakapidu and the Rinjung Pahamu microfinance group in Wangga village. Focus group discussions in those locations supplement the data from the questionnaires. The endogenous and mediating variables of this study are microfinance sustainability and governance factors, respectively. Meanwhile, the exogenous variables are social, economic, and environmental factors. We then quantitatively analyze the data by using structural equation modeling (SEM) through the analysis of moment structures (AMOS). The findings show the mediating role of governance factors in microfinance sustainability. To do so, the MFIs need to maintain their positive attitudes towards the environment and implement green practices to achieve sustainability. The last but not least, this study provides empirical evidence regarding the level of adaptation of small-scale MFIs to green MFIs. Thus, the transformation process towards a green MFI can survive in the long-run through good governance support. The MFIs can oversee the process by initiating green practices and launching environment-based loan products.

The structural equation modelling (SEM) analysis results of 265 SMEs reveal that entrepreneurial-oriented finance has an influence between financing access and SME performance. A positive direct effect is found in the relationship between financing access and entrepreneurial-oriented finance as well as entrepreneurial-oriented finance and SME performance. Entrepreneurial-oriented finance has a full mediation role in financing access towards SME performance. No positive influence is found between financing access and SME performance. Based on the research results, in order to improve business performance, it is not enough to only rely on financing access. Entrepreneurs should also improve their ability to obtain and utilise funds to develop their businesses. Therefore, the financial aspect can optimise business performance through entrepreneurial oriented financial activities completed by entrepreneurs.

It has made these village-owned enterprises a learning center for others in Indonesia. Currently, Tirta Mandiri village-owned enterprises have the role of creating new business fields in Ponggok Village (Polanharjo District, Klaten Regency). This study applied a qualitative method by conducting a case study. The primary data gathered through in-depth interviews with seven key informants and two supporting informants. The secondary data collected through the business management and planning documents of the Tirta Mandiri village-owned enterprises. Tirta Mandiri village-owned enterprises have been able to develop seven business units in the form of Limited Companies (Ltd.). Their presence can increase the output, income, and labor (multiplier effect) of the Ponggok villagers. It is proven by the presence of new businesses in the community. The development of the Tirta Mandiri village-owned enterprises is inseparable from the social capital of the community as a foundation for the development of the village-owned enterprises themselves. Furthermore, community participation actualized through investments, which are a sign of the public's trust in the village-owned enterprises. Money is energy, and planning is the compass, and authority is the driver where the village takes part in realizing its autonomy. Learning from experience is one way to create sustainable village-owned enterprises.

The Analysis was conducted by Structural Vector Autoregression (SVAR). The results proved the shock of the BI (Bank of Indonesia) Rate had a greater influence by itself than the shock of the money supply. In contrast, the shock of the money supply had a greater influence by itself than the shock of the BI Rate. This indicates the money supply of Indonesia does not have any impact on the interest rate, and vice versa. It means if the government wants to control the interest rate, the government cannot use the money supply as an instrument, and vice versa. In Indonesia, the interest rate can be controlled by strengthening the role of the regional inflation monitoring team and the national inflation monitoring team. So, managing good inflation will be able to control the interest rate. In addition, we provide evidence of the liquidity closely related to security and sustainability areas such as money laundering, terrorism financing, corruption, and taxation.

As an emerging country, Indonesia seeks to reduce unemployment and increase gross domestic product. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between GDP and the open unemployment rate in Indonesia starting from 1987 to 2017.
Research Design & Methods: The data were obtained from Indonesia’s Central Bureau of Statistics website. Moreover, the econometric model of the Granger causality and Structural Vector Autoregression capture the causality of GDP and the open unemployment rate.
Findings: The Granger causality test suggested the open unemployment rate does Granger cause gross domestic product, but not vice versa. In line with the Structural Vector Auto-regression, there was a negative relationship between GDP and the open unemployment rate.
Contribution & Value Added: This study is in line with Okun’s law which explains the more labor used in production will have implications for increasing GDP in the economy. It means this study presents evidence to support the existence of Okun’s law in Indonesia. Also, this study contributes to the literature in an emerging country by using the Structural Vector Autoregression model.

Crude Palm Oil (CPO) is one of Indonesia's major export commodities. Facts show over the past two decades, CPO has become a fast-growing product. However, there are obstacles from one of Indonesia's CPO importers, namely the European Union. The aim of this study is to explore the nexus between the exchange rate and the world price of CPOs. Research Design & Methods: This study uses both the exchange rate of Indonesia and the price data of the world CPO from 1981-2017 as secondary. Granger Causality was used to explain the nexus between the exchange rate and the world price of CPOs. Findings: The results of the Granger Causality showed there was no causality between the exchange rate and the price of the world CPO. The lack of causality between the two variables suggests the trade balance's position is stronger and able to explain the exchange rate. Contribution & Value Added: This study indicated that the IDR exchange rate is more sensitive to trade balance rather than the world CPO price. Moreover, It is necessary to refined palm oil products to increase the contribution of the non-oil sector in Indonesia. In addition, the Indonesian government needs to be aware of the European Union's raised barriers to world trade. It means that Indonesia can make a positive campaign about the advantages of palm oil production. Article type: research paper

Article type: research paper

understanding of the determinant factors applicable to micro-finance sustainability is required for the
effective implementation of this type of finance in rural areas. This study aims to contribute to the
development of micro-finance models and policy formulation to attain poverty alleviation for rural
communities in East Sumba. Data collected, is from a sample of 100 micro-finance stakeholders through
questionnaire distributions to community leaders, several non-government organizations, and the locals.
The quantitative method with partial least square is applied to analyse the data. The findings show that the
social, economic and environmental factors affect microfinance practice in rural areas. Local wisdom is
the integrated component that serves as the driving force for the sustainability of micro-finance. From a
micro-finance policy perspective, it is imperative to take into account the various factors that determine
the micro-finance practices since a culture-based micro-finance development strategy may be an
alternative policy for the local government to consider.
