Peachcake [15 Dec 2005|05:30am]
[ **mood** | chipper ] I've been really into this band lately and I thought that I should share. The band is called Peachcake and they are prolly one of the few remaining bands alive today, still using a keytar. It's two guys who make electro-pop that sounds like the perfect mix of the Postal Service and Depeche Mode (and if you don't like either, still check these guys out. I'm not a Depeche Mode fan by any means yet these guys are my favorite new band of the year). The music is just really good. The lyrics are usually easy to digest and always relatable, but they're not sappy or anything. These guys, in a very few matter of days, have managed to sneak up onto my favorite bands ever list. Myspace Purevolume They're also really nice too. Stefen (the vocalist) is sending me some of the bands newer demos. They don't have any music for sale right now, but they have some kick ass t-shirts up on their site. I hope you enjoy the magic that is Peachcake.

2006... [14 Dec 2005|06:39am]
[ **mood** | stressed ] Well, I'm already living in 2006. I have my top 5 list of 2006 already. Right now it's looking something sort of like: Rocky Votolato - Makers Men, Women, and Children - s/t The Strokes - First Impressions of Earth Cat Power - The Greatest Mogwai - (the new one, forget the name) Keep in mind, I have not heard the new Jenny Lewis record yet. But I have it. So I need to get on the ball. So what's everyone else diggin' that has yet to come out in the great lookin' year of 20 to the 06?

The heavy stuff... [14 Dec 2005|04:16am]
[ mood | Ring ] I grew up listening to metal, but I've kind of softened into an indie pop guy over the years (duh). So I missed out on most of the the heavier releases this year... as far as new stuff, I spent a good bit of time listening to the new Children of Bodom record & the Rory Phillips produced At All Cost record, & I guess Avenged Sevenfold if you count that as metal... other than those, what did I miss in heavier music this year? Somebody fill me in.<3 Jon.

Well, it's almost 2006... [13 Dec 2005|05:35am]
[ mood | Ring. ] It's almost 2k6, what better time to discuss the albums that really stuck around from '03 & '04? The test of time is far more telling than any year end list I've ever come across.I'll kick it off... for '03, the Rocket Summer's Calendar Days, the Postal Service's Give Up, the Format's Interventions & Lullabies both get pretty regular play around here... it actually took me a month or so start really listening to the new Rocket Summer record, I was still stuck on Calendar Days. For '04... Head Automatica's Decadence, the Get Up Kids' Guilt Show, Of Montreal's Satanic Panic in the Attic, Rilo Kiley's More Adventurous, the Thrills' Let's Bottle Bohemia, Jimmy Eat World's Futures, & Squad Five-O's Late News Breaking all received tons & tons of play this year. In fact, I spent so much time listening to those albums that it made it difficult to get to know a lot of this year's releases. Especially the Get Up Kids & Thrills records... I wore those guys out.<3 Jon.
