Firstly, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my supervisors Prof. Dr. Kevin Walker and Nicky Hamlyn for their continuous support of my Ph.D research and related practice, for their patience, motivation, and extensive knowledge. Their guidance helped me throughout the journey of research, practice and writing of this thesis. Secondly, I am grateful to all of those whom I have the pleasure to work during this project. This practice-based research would not have been possible without the support of people who had helped me to exhibit my work in their institutions. I especially would like to thank Dr. Rosalie Kim and Laura Carderera at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), who have been supportive of my practice and research goals during my residency at the V&A. Last but not least, the support from my family has been the most important to me in the pursuit of this project. I would like to thank my parents and my brother, whose love and guidance are with me in whatever I pursue. My sincere thanks also go to my friends for supporting me spiritually throughout the research and my life in general. Abstract 5
