12 apostles В начале декабря известный в Луганске и далеко за его пределами скульптор Николай Шматько снова побывал в Италии, во Флоренции. Он принял участие в 7-й выставке современного искусства Florence Biennale, которая прошла 5-13 декабря в выставочном комплексе Fortezza da Basso в рамках программы ООН «Диалог цивилизаций». В ней участвовали 840 художников и скульпторов из 76 стран мира. Мастер, ранее участвовавший и в 6-й Florence Biennale (тогда его творческие успехи удостоились награды выставки - ордена Лоренцо Великолепный), привез массу новых впечатлений, которыми он поделился с «ОстроВ». Поездка придала ему творческих сил и энергии, и теперь скульптор с еще большим вдохновением работает над завершением своего главного проекта – >>> Явление Христа апостолам >>>

«The phenomenon of the Christ to 12 apostles».
The complex will consist of an architectural building (the author's project), constructed specially for a sculptural composition «The phenomenon of the Christ to 12 apostles». The building will include elements of modern architecture (unusual columns, elements of a groove on a stone, color glass) in a combination to new approaches and thinking of the creator of 21 centuries. The composition from 13 figures will be executed from the integral block of a white marble in weight more than 100 tons and will show those improbable events which were developed after Jesus Christ's crucifixion. The embodiment of this sculpture in a marble will open completely new approach to composite construction and a choice of a plot, earlier not used by any of great sculptors of a planet. The treatment of images and skill of the author will allow us to plunge into these events...

Nicolai Shmatko has presented his new sculpture "Ukrainian Aurora" - Yulia Timoshenko
Nicolai Shmatko has presented his new sculpture "Ukrainian Aurora" and a new sculpture group "Christ's Appearance to the Apostles". It has taken 15 years for him to create the project with the Twelve Apostles.
In his sculptures Nicolai Shmatko decided to deviate from the Bible apostles known to us. "In this sculpture there are our contemporaries, people who live near us. Only Jesus Christ is an imaginary person as nobody can pretend to be like him. We can also see Peter, his favourite disciple, doubting Thomas and Judas. Among the known Bible persons I have embodied myself and my sons"- Nicolai Shmatko retells.

The other sculpture of the Nicolai Shmatko "Ukrainian Aurora" has taken him half a year. He retells about it, "Aurora is a morning star which lights up the road of travelers and wayfarers. I decided to accent attention on this and tried to find a woman who can personify national pathos but I could not for a long time. And finally I found national Ukrainian colouring in Julia Timoshenko, Prime Minister of Ukraine".

The sculptor noted that he is a non-party man and has not any political sympathies to Julia Timoshenko but her image helped him to create our contemporary Aurora.
