Parenteral iron therapy results faster and higher replenishment of iron stores and correction of Hb levels with better compliance. The study was to compare the safety and efficacy of ferric carboxy maltose (FCM) with iron sucrose to treat iron deficiency anemia in the post-partum. Methods: 200 women of postpartum iron deficiency anemia were allocated into two groups. Iron sucrose group, subjects were given I.V. iron sucrose in multiple doses, 200 mg/day on day 0,2,4,6,8 total of 1000 mg. FCM group , subjects were given I.V. ferric carboxymaltose 1000 mg single dose. Both groups Hb%, and serum ferritin were done on 0 and day 30 of last dose of parenteral iron. Side effects, compliance were noted. Results: There was statistically significant rise (P <0.001) of Hb in FCM group 4.68 g/dl compare to iron sucrose group 3.92 g/dl. Mean rise of serum ferritin was 71.07±27.23 and 95.39±45.84 in iron sucrose and ferric carboxy maltose group. No serious adverse events were reported in either the FCM group or Iron sucrose group. Conclusions: Properties like ultra-short duration of treatment, fewer adverse reactions and better compliance makes FCM the first-line drug in the management of postpartum iron deficiency anemia.

Observed data show that the effects of the virus do vary between the three waves. Differences in severity of the disease have been reported, although the comparative characteristics of the three waves still remain largely unknown. Methods: This was a prospective cross sectional study continuation of our first paper comparing 133 pregnant COVID- 19 positive patients in the first wave and 251 patients admitted during second wave and 92 patients in third wave who delivered at district hospital, Bellary. Results: In the present study 72.8% patients were in the age of 20-30 years, 85.87% patients belong to lower socio- economic status, mild anaemia about 32.6% in third wave, moderate anaemia seen in 10.8% in third wave, and 3.44% had severe anaemia. Non-severe pre-eclampsia was present in 10.8% of the patients, severe pre-eclampsia was seen in 6.52% of the cases and. Mode of delivery ...

Mode of delivery was 29.34% FTND, 3.26% FTVD emergency LSCS was 63.06% in third wave, and preterm delivery was seen in 4.34% in third wave. Elevated levels of D-dimer were found 25% in third wave. 0 deaths being reported in third wave. Conclusions: This study compared the obstetric and clinical outcome in COVID-19 positive patients who are in labor in first, second, and third wave of COVID-19 infection. Although our conclusions are limited, the finding so obtained are important for understanding the clinical parameters, obstetric parameters and perinatal outcome in three waves.

Isthmocele is usually asymptomatic or may cause gynecological problems, such as menometrorrhagia, infertility, chronic abdominal/pelvic pain. Isthmocele may cause obstetrical sequalae like preterm delivery, uterine rupture, caesarean scar pregnancy or abnormal placental implantation. In the present case report, asymptomatic patient underwent laparoscopic surgery for isthmocele repair after shared decision-making and medical treatment have been evaluated. We suggested that isthmoplasty should be offered to women with symptoms or if it is causing infertility.

A prospective, observational study was conducted in the period from 2003 to 2007. 513 eclamptic women who were admitted to the Dept of OBG, VIMS, Bellary, received single doses of 4g diluted 50% Mgso4 intravenously, with simultaneous 4g 50% MgSo4 intramuscularly. The recurrent seizures, maternal mortality and the perinatal mortality were measured. 9.16% of recurrence (11.66%-16.49%), 3.3% of maternal mortality (1.8%-4.9%) and 24.8 % ( 21.1%-28.7%) of perinatal mortality were observed. The statistical analysis was done by using confidence intervals, standard deviations, means and the Standard normal "Z" test. The single dose MgSo4 regimen is effective and safe in controlling eclamptic convulsions. The 'VIMS' regimen can be used at First Referral Units, before shifting the patients to tertiary ...

It commonly affects the central nervous system (CNS). In addition to the benign tumors that frequently occur in TSC, other common symptoms include seizures, mental retardation, behavioral problems and skin abnormalities. TSC may present at birth, but signs can be subtle and full symptoms may take some time to develop. Definitive antenatal diagnosis is very rare.

Objective was to evaluate the efficacy of tranexamic acid in reducing postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) during normal labour. Methods: Patients who planned for normal delivery and fulfilling the inclusion criteria were recruited for the study. The pre-delivery parameters -pulse rate, blood pressure, Hb gm% and PCV% were measured for each patient.
