Welcome to Robin Hood Big Bang 2011!
This year, we're using the Big Bang to debut the initial chapters of several multichapter fics. Below, you'll find a table of contents for this year's offerings, including where authors will be posting updates.
Thanks to everyone who participated at every stage, and to everyone who comes by to read the fics and view the art!!

Title: Different Directions

Summary: Robin suddenly finds himself in a different world, a twist of time, in where he did not travel the Holy Land. While it gives him what he wants the most, a life with Marian, he soon discovers that life in Nottinghamshire is far worse than he had ever imagined. Being used as a pawn by the sheriff, Robin must find a way to right the wrongs, but furthermore try to discover what happened to his previous life, or if this new reality always was the way things were...

Title: The Sum of Our Choices

Summary: On a trip to his favorite tavern, Allan makes a gruesome discovery that has dramatic consequences for everyone, and especially Marian.

Title: The Alchemy of Love

Rating/Warnings: R. There will be violence, mention of domestic abuse, and explicit sexual content in later chapters.
Characters/Pairings: Guy/Marian/Isabella/Robin (Guy/Marian, Marian/Isabella, Isabella/Robin, Guy/Robin); a teeny bit of Allan/Will/Djaq. A few necessary OCs.
Summary: During her last Nightwatchman gig before her marriage, Marian is caught while helping a woman in need through the forest. Grateful for her aid, Isabella convinces her brother to spare Marian and a friendship is born. Though each have their own goals, Guy, Robin, Isabella and Marian are forced to work together to heal old wounds, learn to trust, and ultimately save Nottingham.

Title: Secret Missions, or: Outlaw Stories from Another View

Summary: The sheriff is trying to find spies, Allan is playing both sides, and the question is whom one can trust at all.

Title: The Story of Your Life

Rating/Warnings: R for sex, violence and profanity
Characters/Pairings: Guy/Kate; will later torment the gang and probably Isabella.
Summary: The adaption to forest life had been going well for Guy of Gisborne... at least until a serious lapse in judgment in a moment of passion caused him to do the unthinkable: have sex with Kate Potter. Now, with a baby on the way, he and Kate must not only learn to be parents and raise a child in the forest, but also to tolerate each other for more than five seconds...

Also, this fic is written from alternating points of view - some chapters belong to Guy, others to Kate, and they often leave snotty messages to each other in brackets. ;)

Travelers Returned

Word Count: Prologue and Chapter 1: 7,737 words
Rating/Warnings: PG-13 in Prologue and Chapter 1, will go up to R in later chapters with some NC-17 material.
Characters/Pairings: Marian, Guy, Djaq, Will and Isabella in Chapter 1; in later chapters, also Robin, Allan, Vaisey, Much, Little John, Tuck, Kate, Prince John, King Richard, Eleanor of Aquitaine, several other canon characters as well as OCs. Guy/Marian, Robin/Marian.
Summary: Believed to be dead in the Holy Land, Marian of Knighton returns to Nottingham to find herself embroiled in political intrigue, conflicted over her relationship with Robin, and forced to deal with a man she never expected back in her life: Guy of Gisborne. Mostly follows S3 canon up to the start of 3x08 (The King Is Dead, Long Live the King).

If you sign up for this year's Big Bang, either as a writer, artist, or beta, make sure to join the community, too! Everything between the sign-ups and the reveal is going to be members-locked, including important announcements, so you have to be a member of the community to participate.
On the other hand, please don't join the community if you don't intend to take part. We'll make plenty of announcements around the fandom when our fics and art go live! :) Until then, though, all content is intended only for participants. Anyone who does join the community but has not signed up for one of the categories within a week of joining will be removed from the members list.

Welcome to the Robin Hood Big Bang for 2011!!
We're starting earlier this year in order to give everyone more time, and get everything wrapped up in time for NaNoWriMo!
What's it all about?
We're aiming to produce an explosion of long fanfiction and accompanying art for the Robin Hood BBC community.
Who can join?
Anyone! We need writers, artists, and beta readers to make this happen, so no matter where your talents lie, there's something for you to do.
However-- only people who will be taking part in one of those categories should join the community; anyone who joins the community but does not register under one of those categories will be removed. As of the reveal date, finished pieces will be posted publicly, and those who wish only to read the stories and see the art can do so then.
If you sign up to be a writer, artist, or beta reader, you MUST join the community, or you won't be able to sign up! :) Posting is limited to the mods for now, but comments are open to members, and posting will be opened to members shortly before the reveal date.
What sort of word count are we talking?
This year, we're offering two tiers of word counts. For those on limited time who'd like to take part, there's a lower word count tier of 15,000-29,999 words. For those able to dedicate more time, there's an upper tier of 30,000 words and up. There is no maximum word count, as long as all pieces are completed by the deadline. Only the upper tier will be guaranteed accompanying artwork, but we're hoping the lower tier will enable more of you to take part!
And yes, you'll be able to switch tiers if needed.
Can I co-write a fic?
Yup! Just make sure all writers are signed up here.
Can I use a fic I've already started?
Sure, as long as none of it has been posted anywhere (including f-locked posts). If you've posted parts of a work in progress anywhere, you cannot use it for this project. If you've only sent parts of a WiP to a beta reader, that's still okay for entering here.
What sorts of artwork are you looking for?
Original art, manips, fanvids... wherever your skills, we'd love to have them!
What sort of content is allowed?
Anything within reason. Gen, het, slash, drama, crack!fics, dark examinations of the soul, et cetera... all good. Please provide appropriate warnings for dub-con, non-con, incest, explicit sex or violence, or other material that should carry a warning. Crossovers must have their primary focus on Robin Hood BBC.
The mods reserve the right to disallow highly material from being posted, which would be discussed with the author or artist. (This would only apply to unusual and extreme situations. Feel free to PM us if you have questions about this.)
Where will everything be hosted?
All entries should be posted to this community within the scheduled posting period. Cross-posting is fine after this community has gone live.
Do I have to use a beta reader from these sign-ups?
Nope. If you already have a favorite beta but they don't wish to sign up, that's fine. The betas will be here for writers who need them.
What sort of schedule are we talking?
We're going on a Monday schedule, to keep things as simple as possible to remember.
Apr 25 - All sign-ups open
May 30 - Writer sign-ups close
July 18 - Artist sign-ups close
July 18-24 - First writer check-in, basic summary due, last chance to switch tiers
July 25 - Artist claims open

Second, I took a historical liberties with this fic: Richard and Philip didn’t arrive in Acre until summer 1191 but here I made them come to Acre in 1189 for dramatic purposes. Also I interpreted the historical characters in this story as it fit my purposes which I only say here in case one of you has seen Kingdom of Heaven and wonders why Guy de Lusignan is such a nice guy (although according to my textbooks and Wikipedia he wasn’t so bad ;)
Third, all Arabic in this fic comes from the phrase pages in an old travel guide. Feel open to point out any mistakes I made
