Welcome to the Robin Hood Big Bang for 2011!!
We're starting earlier this year in order to give everyone more time, and get everything wrapped up in time for NaNoWriMo!
What's it all about?
We're aiming to produce an explosion of long fanfiction and accompanying art for the Robin Hood BBC community.
Who can join?
Anyone! We need writers, artists, and beta readers to make this happen, so no matter where your talents lie, there's something for you to do.
However-- only people who will be taking part in one of those categories should join the community; anyone who joins the community but does not register under one of those categories will be removed. As of the reveal date, finished pieces will be posted publicly, and those who wish only to read the stories and see the art can do so then.
If you sign up to be a writer, artist, or beta reader, you MUST join the community, or you won't be able to sign up! :) Posting is limited to the mods for now, but comments are open to members, and posting will be opened to members shortly before the reveal date.
What sort of word count are we talking?
This year, we're offering two tiers of word counts. For those on limited time who'd like to take part, there's a lower word count tier of 15,000-29,999 words. For those able to dedicate more time, there's an upper tier of 30,000 words and up. There is no maximum word count, as long as all pieces are completed by the deadline. Only the upper tier will be guaranteed accompanying artwork, but we're hoping the lower tier will enable more of you to take part!
And yes, you'll be able to switch tiers if needed.
Can I co-write a fic?
Yup! Just make sure all writers are signed up here.
Can I use a fic I've already started?
Sure, as long as none of it has been posted anywhere (including f-locked posts). If you've posted parts of a work in progress anywhere, you cannot use it for this project. If you've only sent parts of a WiP to a beta reader, that's still okay for entering here.
What sorts of artwork are you looking for?
Original art, manips, fanvids... wherever your skills, we'd love to have them!
What sort of content is allowed?
Anything within reason. Gen, het, slash, drama, crack!fics, dark examinations of the soul, et cetera... all good. Please provide appropriate warnings for dub-con, non-con, incest, explicit sex or violence, or other material that should carry a warning. Crossovers must have their primary focus on Robin Hood BBC.
The mods reserve the right to disallow highly material from being posted, which would be discussed with the author or artist. (This would only apply to unusual and extreme situations. Feel free to PM us if you have questions about this.)
Where will everything be hosted?
All entries should be posted to this community within the scheduled posting period. Cross-posting is fine after this community has gone live.
Do I have to use a beta reader from these sign-ups?
Nope. If you already have a favorite beta but they don't wish to sign up, that's fine. The betas will be here for writers who need them.
What sort of schedule are we talking?
We're going on a Monday schedule, to keep things as simple as possible to remember.
Apr 25 - All sign-ups open
May 30 - Writer sign-ups close
July 18 - Artist sign-ups close
July 18-24 - First writer check-in, basic summary due, last chance to switch tiers
July 25 - Artist claims open
Aug822 - Artist claims close; Beta sign-ups close
Aug 8-14 - Second writer check-in; revised summary due (stories should be mostly done)
Aug 15 - Beta claims open
Aug 29 - Beta claims close
Sept 12-18 - First Artist check-in

Sept 30- Oct 6 - All-participant check-in
Oct 31-Nov 6 - All-participant check-in; first drafts due from writers
Nov 28-Dec 4 - Posting fic and art
Dec 5 - Reveal
There will also be weekly help/encouragement/chat posts at this community. These will not be mandatory, but all participants are encouraged to take part.
