What are Baxtgens and where do they live?
Baxs are a combination of bats, dragons, and foxes/wolves. They're normally very docile and shy creatures, however, certain individuals can be more outgoing than others. The mostly reside in very tropical and wet climates, because they enjoy keeping the very delicate skin on their wings moist to prevent cracking. There are desert and snow Baxtgens that exist, but very few have been recorded. They are carnivores and prey mostly on small prey, like birds, rodents, and fish. Baxtgens normally travel in twos or threes, larger pack life is unusual but not unheard of. The larger the pack the bigger the prey they will hunt, such as deer. Baxs are quick, but only in short bursts before gliding. They use this to their advantage when hunting by speeding up and getting in front of their prey and proceeding to spread their wings out to disorient their prey. They also cannot see very well, and do better hunting at dusk. Their large, bat-like ears allows for above excellent hearing, so even the most blind of Baxs move around and hunt without issue.
Why do they have cheek pouches and orbs? Each Bax has a special cheek pouch that represents their power. Cheek pouches have swirls in them that match their orbs and can be used to summon orbs at will. They 'appear' out of the cheek pouches like bubbles. Orbs allow them to activate their powers, which each individual Bax has, whether it be an elemental power or just plain energy.
What's up with the wings? Baxtgens were born/created with wings since the beginning of time. The wings first started out as attached to their arms in their bat and dragon forms, but the fox adapted the version of the Baxs to have paws with the wings still attached. Their wings allow them to glide short distances, with the vents on the side of their body providing aerodynamics for a lighter body that allows them to do so. As stated earlier, their wings are very delicate skin that need proper moisture and care to prevent cracking and ripping. When a Bax rips their wing it can damage their flying abilities or even stop it all together. Healing can occur, but most often if the rips are too bad they will need their human to patch them up.
