geijutsuka_girl @ 8:28am: Hi my name is Emma,

I'm an Inbound to Thailand and I need a bit of help. I really don't understand Thai and I was wondering if anyone had any tips about learning the language. I just can’t seem to get it.

Thank you for the help.

zimzdisturbed @ 7:50pm: Happy 2006 exchangers

Happy New Year everyone. The new year means that the first half of the exchange is already over. Only 6 months left! Aaaah!! I don't want to go back to America. Also, the oldies are leaving for home, which means that those of us still here are now officially oldies. At first, I wasn't sure if I was ready to "take on" being an oldie, but now I feel very ready and much more experienced. It's very amazing to look back at the people we were before taking this journey and comparing them to who we are now. It wasn't the way I planned it, but it has turned out to be totally awesome anyway. I guess we can never really plan the future, but we can make the most of what's happening at present.

New year's resolutions:

  1. See as much of Europe as possible

  2. Become fluent in Danish

  3. Enjoy the heck out of life

zimzdisturbed @ 12:56pm: Hey Rotary kids! I was hoping to find a community like this because although we bond with exchangers from other organizations as well, there's nothing like being a Rotary exchanger. I'm in Denmark right now, and I love it because if someone is Rotary, I know them. I mean, there are 6 other Rotary exchange students at my school alone. Oh the advantages of going to a small country :)
Anyway, sounds like a fun community. Looking forward to it. Tell me about the different ways of celebrating Christmas in your host country!
In Denmark, Christmas is on the 24th (TOMORROW) in the evening. The whole family gets together and dances around the Christmas tree while holding hands and singing. Then we all take off running around the house singing "Nu det er jul igen!" (It's Christmas again) to make sure that Christmas has been brought to every room in the house. There are tons of foods and drinks particular to Christmastime here, for example: æbleskiver, risengrød, gløgg, etc. All delicious! Now tell me about yours!

marie_abroad @ 10:08pm: Crazy food So far what is the crziest thing you've eaten in your host country?

For me its been cepelinai. It basicly is a potato that you completly take apart and split in to the juice, mush, and starch. Then you put it all back together with meat inside and cook it. Its a tooon of work but turn out really interesting. Here's a picture!

goingabroad @ 6:48pm: Hi! Hey everyone! I'm Megan. Hopefully I'm going to Austria next year with Rotary. My Livejournal really isn't anything interesting yet...hopefully it will get interesting as the exchange approaches. :)

So where is everybody? How has the first part of your exchange gone?

Oh yeah...isn't my username original? Haha. When I typed it in I assumed it would be taken so I didn't really expect it to actually go through!

arielinindia @ 6:19pm: Did anyone else get forced to sing repeatedly at rotary meetings? I had to sing indian folk songs with a band, and I am probably the worst singer alive... it was the most degrading thing I have ever done.
