This paper deals with two ways of data representations based on the outcomes derived from the variety of equipment used during the measurements. In particular, a methodology in line with standards and regulations has been introduced to representing the graphs of the main acoustical parameters; besides, a video of the real-time room impulse response (RIR) has been snapped with a few shots in place of visualizing the sound reflections that occurred inside the entire volume. After a brief description of the historical background of the Municipal theatre of Piacenza, the authors introduce the two methods just discussed to highlight the completeness of data representation regarding any type of room that is intended to be analyzed acoustically.

This paper deals with alternative ways of how to represent acoustic data, in particular by adding a 3dof representation of the impulse response (IR) besides the graphs related to the main acoustic parameters in line with the standard requirements. The 3dof screen shots have been undertaken by an overlay elaboration, showing the particular architectural components of the theatre that contribute to the early and late sound reflections. A brief introduction of the historical background related to the Comunale-Pavarotti theatre of Modena has been given to understand the architectural characteristics of the entire structure.

In order to set new limits, a deep knowledge of the three elements of he noise chain (i.e. source, transmission path and receiver) is needed. In this context it is therefore important to measure the acoustic signature of a ship, in order to characterize it as no i e source. To this aim, dedicated measurements may be carried out during sea trials, which usually takes place in an area close to the building shipyard. The measurement layout foresees a series of hydrophones deployed in the water column placed at a distance of a hundred metres from the s hip that passes abeam the hydrophones on a straight course. Such far field measurements are to b referred to the reference distance of 1 metre in order to ensure results comparability. Sound pro pagation from the ship to the hydrophones is therefore to be carefull...

But positions of speakers are often conditioned by the furniture. Bad alignment reduces spatial performances of the system dramatically. For circumventing the above problems, most stereo TV sets, nowadays, are equipped with some form of “virtual surround” reproduction, employing substantially the Stereo Dipole method. This provides a very good frontal sound stage, but indeed sucks regarding the emulation of virtual surround loudspeakers. An alternative reproduction technique is PanAmbio 4.1, based on a double stereo dipole system (frontal and rear). In this work the authors propose a comparison between the standard 5-ways surround system, and the new one. Validation is performed by subjective tests inside a domestic room.

In this paper, authors describe the construction of a low-cost, ten-hydrophones, nonuniform linear array to be employed in passive and ctive sonar applications. Many experiments were conducted, under controlled c onditions (large pool), oriented to characterize both individual transducers as well as the complete array. Using the array in “passive” mode, employing an omnidirectional sound source and a non-impulsive signal, beamforming and inverse filtering techniques, the a uthors evaluated array directivity over a wide range of frequencies (1-23 kHz) and also its capability to estimate the direction of

The acoustic characterisation is performed considering two hydrophones in significantly different positions (inside the tunnel and in an external tank), typical, for different reasons, of noise measurements in cavitation tunnel; the procedure is based on the logarithmic sine sweep signal. The obtained transfer functions have been applied to a series of measurements of model propellers in correspondence to considerably different functioning conditions, in terms of cavitation number and propeller loading, showing the applicability of the procedure and the improvement of the measurement quality, in view of predictions in full scale.
