Man is always involved in search for alternative fuel options for many years. Electricity is today the only energy carrier with no environmental impact at the point of utilization. Hydrogen shows the same advantage. Recently, hydrogen has been getting much attention worldwide and is taken as part of the solution to the fuel crisis. It is therefore very important to assess if the development of a new infrastructure based on hydrogen as an energy carrier is possible, feasible, useful or even inevitable. Hydrogen is an efficient fuel to use to generate electricity. It is available in great amount and does not put negative effects like emission of harmful gases or greenhouse effect. Studies have proved that hydrogen energy is the only alternative fuel that can reduce this world's dependence on oil with reduced greenhouse effect. In this way use of this renewable energy is playing an important role in reducing future climate impacts and energy supply concerns. Fuel cells in association with hydrogen give the best alternative for energy solution. The Hydrogen Energy proves to be very promising as the fuel of the future and in minimizing the effect of greenhouse gases and hence reducing the environmental pollution. A brief review about the concept of Hydrogen Energy along with its positive and negative aspects has been made in this paper.

The primary cause of environmental degradation is human disturbance. The industrial revolution of 19 th century mechanized the production and manufacturing of goods and introduced the use of machinery and other heavy equipments -which in turn, used fuels as source of energy, which deteriorate the environment. The modern technological progress, for which we are so proud of, is actually the root cause of the environmental deterioration. Environmental changes are based on factors like urbanization, population and economic growth, increase in energy consumption and agricultural intensification. The degradation has adverse impacts on humans, plants, animals and micro-organisms. To cope up with the critical situation, we need to make optimum use and management of resources, sustainable development, adoption of green concept and above all community participation in all developmental activities.

A vast country like India faces alarming challenges in the form of exploding population, widespread poverty, recurring natural disasters and a declining natural resource base. Looking to this background, environmental education has a much wider role to play. Environmental Education is a process in which individuals gain awareness of their environment and acquire knowledge, skills, values, experiences and also the determination which enables them to act individually and collectively to solve present and future environmental problems. Environmental education is a learning process that increases people's knowledge and awareness about the environment and associated challenges, develops the necessary skills and expertise to address the challenges, and fosters attitudes, motivations, and commitments to make informed decisions and take responsible action. Environmental education is not only environmental information or environmental advocacy; it is rather a complex process, covering not just events, but a strong underlying approach to society building as a whole.

Most of these rating systems have been adapted to suit the specific requirements of the building industry of the country in which they have been developed. Like the LEED rating system which has been in use in the United States, is based on the energy efficiency measures mainly in air conditioned buildings. For a country like India, having hot climate, less air conditioned buildings and more agricultural activities, there needs to be a different rating system.

The consumption of energy in India is rising due to rapid urbanization, population explosion, intensive growth of information technology and related businesses. Buildings are the prime energy consumers in modern cities accounting up to 40% energy consumption. Their consumption can largely be cut back through improving efficiency, which is an effective means to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and slow down depletion of non-renewable energy resources.
