Hello friends, so long LiveJournal

Dec. 23rd, 2009 | 01:45 am

So it's been almost a year since I've migrated pretty much everything off of my LJ account to my site. During that time I've been (mostly) happy with my current setup, and the knowledge that content that I've written in my journal is backed up in a number of locations and not dependent on a 3rd party company to continue existing. Still sad I spent a shit ton of money on a life time account here, but oh well.

Recently I've been noticing the LJ API doesn't appreciate posts being made from my site to here. When I notice things are missing I attempt to figure out what went wrong and try to repost. I don't notice every time. Eventually I know I would get to a point where I'm not going to repost thing here and simply keep the account up with a last post forwarding folks to my site. This has come.

If you're into the future there's a good chance you read RSS feeds from your favorite sites. Great! My site has a feed too!

If you're seeing this then you're reading it through LiveJournal (most likely), I'm going to guess you like how it's currently setup and don't want to change your own behavior to continue reading what I post (or see my photos at least). LiveJournal has a built in feed reader, it actually takes feeds and creates new "users" to display them. I've created one for my site, simply add that as a new friend and you'll be able to read the posts from my site without leaving LiveJournal!

As always you can just hit up my site and read things there without the need of RSS feeds and all that hoopla. Not to toot my own horn, but my site is pretty sexy (not under IE).

This account will still remain here, active, with this post on top letting folks know where to find me. There's no need to remove me from your friends list as it's also how I authenticate to read friends only items, and yes I do read your posts so please don't. But this is it, no more cross posting here. If you'd like to continue seeing my content, please read about the options above on how to get on my feed.

Incidentally tomorrow will mark the 8 year account creation anniversary for me. Thanks to the group of dedicated individuals that made LJ function back then. I've grown leaps and bounds in those years and I feel the only way I would have known was going through and reading previous entries again and again. Reflection is important.

If she were a boat, making her way across life's water, then the journal was her compass.

Burning Man 2009 Center Camp Cafe Art Fence

I did this last year, and I did it again for this year. A (mostly) complete pano of the whole art fence around the back of Cafe. Check it out if you like looking at interesting long things.

Anna Christie

Running into Anna Christie

I first saw Anna Christie play with Corpus Callosum a year ago in Oakland. Part of a group called Sisters 3, she was on a solo tour slash adventure. Running into her again later that night I passed along my email, some how figuring we might run into each other again. Sure enough after forgetting about most of it, here I am walking through Cafe on a very crappy day when low and behold there she is on stage playing her uku and singing her song with a huge smile.

I haven’t seen her since then.
