This fact determines the relevance of it comprehensive interdisciplinary study by different sciences (sociology, political science, psychology, linguistics, etc.). In this article, ethnic stereotypes are analyzed, firstly, at the psychological level (types, functions, structure), and secondly, at the psycholinguistic and psychosemantic levels (from the point of view of the rationale for it diagnosis with using the semantic differential). The possibilities of the semantic differential for studying the content, consistency, direction and intensity of social stereotypes in general, as well as the method modifications for diagnosis ethnic stereotypes, are examined. The heuristic potential of semantic differential for diagnosing ethnic stereotypes as phenomena, on the one hand, reflecting various aspects of intercultural perception and dialogue, and,...

The purpose of the present research is to show that the ethno-national attitudes (ENA), which Khukhlaev et al. consider as an individual’s predisposition to assess the nationality/ethnicity can determine the severity of ICC features in male and female university students. The sample includes 219 (75% female) first–third year Russian university students. ICC was measured with the author’s modification of the intercultural sensitivity scale (ISS) by Khuhlaev and Chibisova. European Proceedings of Social & Behavioural Sciences EpSBS. PSYRGGU 2019: Psychology of subculture: Phenomenology and Contemporary Tendencies of Development, 2019

The possibility of using the psychological potential of the social Latin dance (salsa) for person... more The possibility of using the psychological potential of the social Latin dance (salsa) for personality development is discussed in the article. The salsa community is considered as a subculture with its social, linguistic and psychological characteristics, identified on the basis of a theoretical analysis of the literature and few previous empirical studies. The research problem is determined by the lack of psychological study on the salsa phenomenon, especially in Russian psychology. The main objectives of the present study were: (1) to identify the main reasons for practicing salsa in Russian dancers ("salseros"); (2) to describe the most distinctive psychological features of salsa dancers; (3) to reveal the most significant changes in the lifestyle and in the psychological characteristics of the personality, under the practicing salsa. The data was obtained using semi-structured interviews with experts (7 people who involved in promotion and development of the Russian salsa movement not less than 10-15 years) and with salsa dancers (36 peoples with salsa experience from 1 year to 15 years). The results of the study showed that the main reasons for join to the salsa community among Russian salseros are associated with the desire to maintain and develop the interpersonal communication, the sociability, the communicative skills and traits. Accordingly, practicing salsa had the greatest impact on leisure activities and interpersonal communication, as well as on communication skills and communicative personality traits of salseros.

Second (foreign) language (SL/FL) proficiency is one of the most important competences of a perso... more Second (foreign) language (SL/FL) proficiency is one of the most important competences of a person in the modern global world. Numerous studies show that the process and the result of the second (foreign) language acquisition (SLA / FLA) can influence human development in different areas. For example, A.V. Kharkhurin considers bilingualism (multilingualism) as a factor in the development of human creativity. In our previous study, we tested the hypothesis of a positive relationship between SLA and the level of students' creativity. But, contrary to the hypothesis, we revealed only few correlations between the creativity indicators and SLA assessments. We assumed that the relationship between creativity and SLA may vary depending on the level of creativity and / or SLA. Based on this, the purpose of the present study is to compare the features of creativity among students with different SLA levels. The sample includes 128 (82%-female) first-and second-year university students in the Linguistics Department, all students study English as their major SL. The creativity was measured with the Abbreviated Torrance Test for Adults (ATTA). The ATTA includes one verbal creativity task and two non-verbal creativity tasks. We used indicators for each task separately, total indicators of Fluency, Originality, Elaboration, Flexibility, and the Total Creativity Index (CI). To assess SLA we used: (1) the semester Final Grades by English (from 0 to 100), and English teachers' assessment of SLA in their students by authors' expert scale (10 indicators related to different aspects of SLA such as audition, reading, writing, vocabulary, speaking, communication, phonetics and so on). The descriptive statistics methods, coefficients Cronbach' α and McDonald's ω, Kruskal-Wallis' H-test, and Spearman rank correlation analysis were used for processing the data. Statistical processing was carried out in the R software environment for statistical computing and graphics, version 3.5.2. The research results confirm that there are differences in Flexibility among students with different SLA levels: students who are more proficient in English show greater flexibility in solving creative tasks. Most clearly the differences between students' groups with different SLA levels are manifested in the correlations between the SLA assessments and creativity indicators. Thus, we confirmed the hypothesis of a non-linear connection between creativity and SLA level.

In Western psychology, personality factors of the SLA are most often studied on the basis of the Big Five or Five-Factor Model (FFM). In Russian psychology, numerous studies of personality traits as SLA factors have been carried out on the basis of the System-Functional Model by A. Krupnov. This model assumes personality traits consideration as a set of components and variables included into two subsystems: (1) motivational-meaningful (attitudinal-target, motivational, cognitive and productive components), and (2) regulatory-dynamic (dynamic, emotional, regulatory and reflexive-evaluative components). The correlation of SLA features with sociability, curiosity, persistence, and responsibility, were considered on the basis of this model. The purpose of the present study is to reveal and compare the correlations between the initiative as personality traits and the success in SLA in linguistics and non-linguistics students. A total of 241 respondents took part in the research. All the respondents were first-and second-year university students, of which 128 students (82%-female) are studying in the field of "Linguistics" and 113 students (64%-female)-in non-linguistic fields of study ("National Economy", "World Economy", "Psychology and Education"). All students study English as their major SL. The initiative was measured with the "Initiative Questionnaire" by A. Krupnov. This questionnaire includes 8 subscales according to the System-Functional Model of personality traits. To assess SLA we used the traditional academic achievement indicator (the semester final grades by English) as well as English teachers' assessment of SLA in their students by authors' expert scale (10 indicators and total score). The descriptive statistics methods, coefficients Cronbach' α and McDonald's ω, Spearman rank correlation analysis, and Wilcoxon T-test were used for processing the data. Statistical processing was carried out in the R software environment for statistical computing and graphics, version 3.5.2. The results of the present research showed that the initiative is more closely related to the SLA peculiarities in linguistics students than in non-linguistics students. But revealed correlations show that the students' initiative in SL learning can be ambiguously assessed by teachers, what corresponds to the data on the ambiguous assessment of creativity as FLA factor. In general, the research findings provide further arguments for discussing the problem of the criteria for SLA assessment by teachers, their objectivity and role in the development of students' initiative and creativity.

A total of 331 respondents took part in the research, including 246 Russian students and 75 international students of various departments of a multinational university (Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, PFUR). They completed a four-part interview on the Russian cuisine. The concept of "social representation" by S.Moscovici and the structural approach by J.-C.Abric were used for data analysis. There are many similarities in the structure of social representations of Russian cuisine in Russian and the international students. The main difference is that the structure of social representations of the international students does not include the elements related to the history and traditions of Russian cuisine. Information about the traditions of Russian cuisine can be included in the program of Russian language study for help of intercultural communication and adaptation of international students.
