Properties of multiplication were examined with core interest on identity, commutative and distributive laws of identical numbers with any length of numbers. The distributive law was not as beneficial to the development of the general model as summation of corresponding lagged multiplicand along with multiplicative identity whereas it was invaluable when combined with identity and commutative laws in formulating specific models for digits two (2) to nine (9). Bearing in mind the laborious task involved in multiplication process of any long length of numbers with identical numbers, an algorithm was developed with JAVA programming language for MIN model to enhance better performance than calculator or Excel package. Results of MIN model were displayed completely without approximation involving exponent compared to results of calculator...

To achieve the goal, GLS and OLS estimating techniques were applied on a simultaneous equation models (that is Per Capital Gross Domestic Product equation model and Foreign Direct Investment equation model). Annual data was collected for Per Capital Gross Domestic Product, Foreign Direct Investment, Lending Rate of Interest and Exchange Rate Index for the period of 1983 to 2008 from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and Central Bank of Nigeria Statistical Bulleting (2009). Results from the analysis showed that GLS and OLS estimating techniques produced the same values of coefficients and standard errors in the two equations. The study however concluded that the two estimators are both efficient alike, which shows that the GLS estimator is an OLS estimator of a transformed isomorphic model. The R-package of statistical software was adopted. The two estimators provide BLUE (Best Linear Unbiased Estimator) under heter...

Mean square error and error diagnostic analysis were adopted as basis for adjudging the best linear regression model. It was deduced from available results that transformations of logarithm (bases 10 and 7), square root, reciprocal and inverse square were found to have among others possessed the minimum mean square errors of 0.001 and lesser. In contrary, when compared with the qq-plots and other residual plots from the diagnostic analysis, logarithm transformation of base 10 was acknowledged to have performed better among other transformation competitors. Therefore, error diagnostic analysis should form part of reliable yardsticks apart from the minimum condition of least mean square error for selecting best linear regression model when transformations of closely related variables with same number of observations are involved.

rainfall (mm) in all states of Nigeria including Abuja (FCT)
from 1971 to 2012. Generalized extreme value (GEV) theory
was employed to extract out the monthly extreme rainfall as
the response variable which possessed a bimodal structure
and is best captured with beta distribution from existing
literatures and the current study. Generalized linear models
(GLMs) of beta distribution type therefore explored the
variability in rainfall encountered by each state to explain the
extreme rainfall model using betareg package in R. It was
validated that Oyo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Imo ,Niger,
Kwara, Kebbi, and Zamfara states contributed to the model
at 5 percent significant level as affirmed by z-statistics and
exploratory data analysis (EDA). This is an indication to the
states validated by the extreme rainfall model to be prone to
yearly flooding while the rest of the states not validated by
the model are likely to encountered flooding whenever there
is extreme rainfall which is a recent trend due to global
warming. Therefore, structure and re-engineering solutions
must be put in place in all parts of the country to avoid
flooding.
