On September 28th, fusion band Sakanaction will release their fifth album! The currently untitled album will be their first in a year and a half, and will feature hit singles “Identity“, “Rookie“, “**Bach no Senritsu wo Yoru ni Kiita Sei Desu.**” Fans can purchase three different versions of the album: Limited Edition A (CD+DVD), Limited Edition B (CD-Only), and a regular version (CD-Only).

The DVD for the Limited Edition A will contain a documentary of their time in the studio. “We’d like to show you how precious the act of producing music is to us by showing you the other side of the creation of our music,” said vocalist/guitarist Yamaguchi Ichiro about the documentary.

Stay tuned for more information about Sakanaction’s upcoming album!

A user linked me to a series of Japanese lyrics for Sakanaction, so I am slowly romanizing them so we can all sing to their music. I am not fluent enough to translate the lyrics, so anyone here has permission to do that from my romanized version. The Japanese I was given had many mistakes, and so I based the lyrics off the music video posted on Victor's channel.

Sakanaction is a five-piece band from Sapporo, Japan.

Sakanaction literally translates as "Fish Action," and the band members intend it to designate that they're as good with shifting between styles as a fish with moving in water. If the metaphor is a bit watered down, it still reflects the group's sound, which mashes together alt-rock, pop, dance, and new wave. Sakanaction's mastermind, guitarist/vocalist Yamaguchi Ichiro, began his musical career copying British rock groups in a high-school band, but the act splintered when he tried to introduce electronica to its music, leaving Yamaguchi to work solo. He began DJing at night clubs, but in 2005 had another go at collaborative work, teaming up with guitarist Iwadera Motoharu, later joined by Kusaki Ami, Okazaki Emi and Ejima Keiichi. The band first gained attention at the 2006 Rising Sun Rock Fest, and debuted as a recording unit in 2007 with the simultaneous release of the album "Go to the Future" and the single "Words/Sample," followed by the second full-length "Night Fishing" in early 2008. That year Sakanaction also played the Summer Sonic event, which was organized by the popular radio station Music On! and featured Death Cab for Cutie, Paul Weller, and These New Puritans. Sakanaction's single "Sentorei" (2008) fought the likes of GReeeeN and Mayu in the charts, rising to number nine, and in 2009 they released their third album, Shinshiro, promoted by the nationwide Sakanquarium2009 tour. -itunes

All of their albums are available at iTunes at a very reasonable price, $0.99/song. Please support the band, whether through iTunes or getting the hard-copy of their releases.
