The process of detecting the unusual patterns of activity or set of activities that are correlated with the defined list of intrusion based events is known as intrusion detection. Many systems have been designed to carry out this intrusion detection process i.e., Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS). In general they provide an early warning to the system against an intrusion and suggest a series of defensive action that can be taken to prevent or minimize the damage. Intruder or hacker or cracker is one of the major threats to system level security.

Christo Ananth et al. discussed about a chapter, Message authentication is a mechanism or service... more Christo Ananth et al. discussed about a chapter, Message authentication is a mechanism or service used to verify the integrity of a message. It assures that data received by an entity are exactly the same as sent by the sending entity. It indicates that the received message contains no modification, insertion, deletion or replay of its original contents. It also ensures that the purported identity of the sender is valid. In symmetric encryption scheme authentication is provided among the communication entities through shared secret key. If a sender encrypts his message using his own private key it is also one form of authentication the following are the two most common cryptographic techniques employed to provide message authentication in a communication network.

Several algorithms are formulated to offer secure key exchange. To implement symmetric key cryptography, the two parties involved in data exchange, should exchange the key for encryption/decryption which should be protected from unauthorized access and modification. The strength of any cryptographic system lies in the key distribution technique, the term refers to the process of delivering a cryptographic key between two parties who wish to exchange data. The public key cryptography includes two distinct aspects distribution of public keys and use of public key encryption technique to distribute secret keys.

Research paper thumbnail of A Brief Outline Of Technical Challenges In Cryptography and Information Security

Christo Ananth et al. presented a brief outline on Technical Challenges In Cryptography and Infor... more Christo Ananth et al. presented a brief outline on Technical Challenges In Cryptography and Information Security, Cryptology is a youthful science. In spite of the fact that it has been utilized for a huge number of years to shroud mystery messages, orderly investigation of cryptology as a science (and maybe a craftsmanship) just began around one hundred years back. The principal known proof of the utilization of cryptography (in some shape) was found in an engraving cut around 1900 BC, in the fundamental load of the tomb of the aristocrat Khnumhotep II, in Egypt. The copyist utilized some strange hieroglyphic images all over set up of more normal ones. The design was not to shroud the message but rather maybe to change its shape in a way which would influence it to seem stately. In spite of the fact that the engraving was not a type of mystery composing, but rather joined a type of change of the first content, and is the most seasoned known content to do as such. Confirmation of some utilization of cryptography has been seen in most major early developments. "Arthshashtra", a great work on statecraft composed by Kautalya, portrays the undercover work benefit in India and notices offering assignments to spies in "mystery expressing" - sounds like an antiquated variant of James Bond? The mystery of your message ought to dependably rely upon the mystery of the key, and not on the mystery of the encryption framework. (This is known as Kerckhoffs' standard.). Identified with the above, dependably utilize figures which have been freely checked on and have been built up as a standard. Utilizing "mystery crypto" is terrible, on the grounds that simply like the Caesar figure, once the framework is known, all messages can be unscrambled. For instance, if your key is traded off, an aggressor could get to your messages; in any case, if the assailant can bargain the crypto framework itself, they can get the plain content of each message (not only for a solitary individual) scrambled by that framework. After its HR, data is an association's most vital resource. As we have seen in past parts, security and hazard administration is information driven. All endeavors to ensure frameworks and systems endeavor to accomplish three results: information accessibility, uprightness, and classification. Furthermore, as we have additionally observed, no foundation security controls are 100% viable. In a layered security demonstrate, it is frequently important to actualize one last counteractive action control wrapped around delicate data: encryption. Encryption isn't a security panacea. It won't illuminate every one of your information driven security issues. Or maybe, it is basically one control among numerous. In this part, we take a gander at encryption's history, its difficulties, and its part in security architecture. One of the most punctual encryption techniques is the move figure. A figure is a technique, or calculation, that proselytes plaintext to ciphertext..

It is done by the government. Public distribution system is one of the widely controversial officers that involves corruption and illegal smuggling of goods. All these happen because every job in the ration shop involves manual work and there are no specific high-tech technologies to automate the job. Our main objective here is to automate the process of the distribution. The classical method involves customer to tell the person handling the ration shop outlet, the amount of the commodity he/she needs and the type too. The person working then measures the commodity and gives it to the customer. In our version of the system, we will develop an embedded system project where we will have the customer to input the amount he requires and the system made will automatically collect that much amount in a container. It is a new concept which takes into account the various social, economic and general aspects relating to technical as well as day to day disciplines

Object matching methods form the foundation of many state- of-the-art algorithms. Therefore, this feature distribution scheme can be directly applied to several state-of- the-art matching methods with little or no adaptation. The future challenge lies in mapping state-of-the-art matching and reconstruction methods to such a distributed framework. The reconstructed scenes can be converted into a video file format to be displayed as a video, when the user submits the query. This work can be brought into real time by implementing the code on the server side/mobile phone and communicate with several nodes to collect images/objects. This work can be tested in real time with user query results.

Research paper thumbnail of Efficient heuristics to infer Best Node in LSN

Christo Ananth et al. discussed about a project, In this project, We propose several efficient he... more Christo Ananth et al. discussed about a project, In this project, We propose several efficient heuristics for inferring the best node to be checked in large-scale networks. By extensive simulation, we show that we can infer the best node in at least 95% of time, and that first checking the candidate nodes rather than the most likely faulty nodes can decrease the checking cost of correcting all faulty nodes. As a result, we want to devise a cost effective network fault correction mechanism that corrects all network faults at minimum cost. To diagnose (but not repair) network faults, recent approaches like use all network nodes to collaboratively achieve this. For instance, in hop-by-hop authentication each hop inspects packets received from its previous hop and reports errors when packets are found to be corrupted. While such a distributed infrastructure can accurately pinpoint network faults, deploying and maintaining numerous monitoring points in a large-scale network introduces heavy computational overhead in collecting network statistics and involves complicated administrative management. We present the optimality results for an end-to-end inference approach to correct(i.e., diagnose and repair) probabilistic network faults at minimum expected cost. One motivating application of using this end-to-end inference approach is an externally managed overlay network, where we cannot directly access and monitor nodes that are independently operated by different administrative domains, but instead we must infer failures via end to-end measurements. We show that first checking the node that is most likely faulty or has the least checking cost does not necessarily minimize the expected cost of correcting all faulty nodes.

The proposed network structure is shown to be the most efficient in terms of data collection time. The proposed network structure can greatly reduce the data collection time while keeping the total communication distance and the network lifetime at acceptable values. The delay time for each of the sensor node is determined. As a future enhancement, we can improve the system to reduce the delay on packet transmission between the source and the destination by adding more number of sensor nodes and thereby predicting the delay time and increasing the network lifetime.

Christo Ananth et al. discussed about a project, In this project, To utility maximization in netw... more Christo Ananth et al. discussed about a project, In this project, To utility maximization in networks where the sources do not employ flow control and may consequently overload the network. In the absence of flow control at the sources, some packets will inevitably have to be dropped when the network is in overload. To overcome the problem by proposing the new method called receiver based flow control method. At first develop a distributed, threshold based packet-dropping policy that maximizes the weighted sum throughput. Next, we consider utility maximization and develop a receiver-based flow control scheme that, when combined with threshold-based packet dropping, achieves the optimal utility. In the flow control scheme creates virtual queues at the receivers as a push-back mechanism to optimize the amount of data delivered to the destinations via backpressure with adaptive redundancy (BWAR), mechanism. It is the novel hybrid approach that removeredundant packets via a timeout mechanism, and that improve energy use. The simulations confirm that BWAR outperforms traditional backpressure at low load, while outperforming back pressure routing schemes at high load.

Research paper thumbnail of Detecting SF attacks in WSNs using CRS-A

Christo Ananth et al. discussed about a project, In this project, In this system, we have propose... more Christo Ananth et al. discussed about a project, In this project, In this system, we have proposed a channel-aware reputation system with adaptive detection threshold (CRS-A) to detect selective forwarding attacks in WSNs. To accurately distinguish selective forwarding attacks from the normal packet loss, CRSA evaluates the forwarding behaviors by the deviation between the estimated normal packet loss and monitored packet loss. To improve the detection accuracy of CRS-A, we have further derived the optimal evaluation threshold of CRS-A in a probabilistic way, which is adaptive to the time-varied channel condition and the attack probabilities of compromised nodes. In addition, a distributed and attack-tolerant data forwarding scheme is developed to collaborate with CRS-A for stimulating the cooperation of compromised nodes and improving the data delivery ratio. Our simulation results show that the proposed CRS-A can achieve a high detection accuracy with low false and missed detection probabilities, and the proposed attacktolerant data forwarding scheme can improve more than 10% data delivery ratio for the network. In our future work, we will extend our investigation into WSNs with mobile sensor nodes, where the detection of selective forwarding attacks becomes more challenging, since the normal packet loss rate is more fluctuant and difficult to estimate due to the mobility of sensor nodes.

As the sensor energy consumption plays a vital role in determining the network lifetime, many strategies have been proposed for energy conservation. One of them is Mobile Data Gathering (MDG). A new enhanced transmission based clustering method is proposed for finding the appropriate anchor points for Anchor based Mobile Data Gathering process. The experiment results prove that the proposed algorithm gives better results for selecting number of anchors appropriate for the mobile data gathering. It also reduces the round trip time of the Mobile Data Collector (MDC) significantly when compared with the exiting random walk. In future work, it would be worthwhile to use multiple mobile elements rather than using only a single mobile sink, in order to address the problems of buffer overflow, data latency and improve the data delivery ratio. Meanwhile, it is also necessary in this case to explore whether the potential benefit obtained would justify its additional requirements.

We highlight the approach taken by FAST TCP to address the four difficulties, at both packet and flow levels, which the current TCP implementation has at large windows. We describe the architecture and characterize the equilibrium and stability properties of FAST TCP. We present experimental results comparing our first Linux prototype with TCP Reno, HSTCP, and STCP in terms of throughput, fairness, stability, and responsiveness. FAST TCP aims to rapidly stabilize high-speed long-latency networks into steady, efficient and fair operating points, in dynamic sharing environments, and the preliminary results are produced as output of our project. We also explain our project with the help of an existing real-time example as to explain why we go for the TCP download rather than FTP download. The real-time example that is chosen is Torrents which we use for Bulk and safe-downloading. We finally conclude with the results of our new congestion control algorithm aided with the graphs obtained during its simulation in NS2.

Quantum computers are extremely sensitive to noise and errors caused by interactions with their environment. This can cause errors to accumulate and degrade the quality of computation. Developing reliable error correction techniques is therefore essential for building practical quantum computers. While quantum computers have shown impressive performance for some tasks, they are still relatively small compared to classical computers. Scaling up quantum computers to hundreds or thousands of qubits while maintaining high levels of coherence and low error rates remains a major challenge. Developing high-quality quantum hardware, such as qubits and control electronics, is a major challenge. There are many different qubit technologies, each with its own strengths and weaknesses, and developing a scalable, fault-tolerant qubit technology is a major focus of research. Funding agencies, such as government agencies, are rising to the occasion to invest in tackling these quantum computing challenges. Researchersalmost daily-are making advances in the engineering and scientific challenges to create practical quantum computers.
