Students typically achieve poorly in school if it is not appropriately addressed. Therefore, differentiated instruction (DI) strategies were used in mathematics classes to address the issue. This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of DI strategies in addressing student diversity and raising mathematics proficiency levels. DI was carefully implemented in one school using the plan-do-study-act methodology. Data were gathered via test scores, questionnaires, and interviews, and professionals in the field of mathematics education verified the content validity of the said instruments. The study discovered that more incredible mathematics achievement resulted from addressing student diversity. Mathematics classes were better delivered and adapted to students' learning styles using DI. However, mathematics teachers faced difficulties like lengthy preparation, poor classroom management, large class sizes, and a lack of resources.

To address this, Facebook Messenger was used as a platform to communicate with the students and deliver interventions like lectures through posting slides with voice clips and video lessons. This study aimed to establish the effectiveness of the said interventions for grade 7 mathematics using practical action research. Test material, questionnaire, and interview guide were the instruments used in collecting data validated by a master teacher and two head teachers in mathematics education. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS version 23 and qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Based on the findings, lectures and video lessons through Facebook Messeng...

However, many students struggled with mathematics lessons because of the limited synchronous interaction time. Practical action research was conducted to address the said problem on grade 10 students utilizing teacher-made video lessons via Google Classroom as mathematics supplementary learning materials for struggling students. Participants were 50 strugglers with low grades from the first and second grading periods selected purposively. Test materials, survey questionnaire, and interview guide were the instruments used in data collection validated by two head teachers and one master teacher in mathematics education and pilot tested on non-participants. The result shows that the students performed better in the post-test examination after consuming teacher-made video lessons. Students understood the mathematics lessons be...

Online distance learning combines modular or TV and radio-based instruction in the Philippines. However, one-hour per subject for the synchronous session is not enough to cover the one-week lessons and develop the target competencies in mathematics. Students struggled to understand the mathematics lesson discussed by the teacher during synchronous. They need many explanations and illustrative examples to understand the underlying concepts, principles, and procedures for solving mathematical problems. Hence, video lessons are the best solution to help students cope with challenges. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of YouTube video playlists as mathematics supplementary learning materials for blended learning. The participants are grade 7 students in public school under the third grading period. The instruments are test materials, a survey questionnaire, and an interview guide validated by three experts in mathematics education. Findings showed that the YouTube video playlist helped the students to understand and develop students' mathematics competencies. Watching the said intervention boosted the students' confidence in answering the learning activities and performing tasks. However, they suggested uploading more videos with closed captions, illustrative examples, and explanations. Hence, similar studies must be conducted to verify the findings in different schools since the study was limited to one school.

Modular distance learning is a new learning delivery modality implemented by most public schools ... more Modular distance learning is a new learning delivery modality implemented by most public schools in the Philippines. However, as seen on the summative test result for the first grading period, students struggled in Grade 7 Mathematics using the self-learning modules. Hence, mathematics concepts were hard to understand and not explained well in the module. To address the problem, the teacher made video lessons and uploaded them to the YouTube channel Direct to the Point by DM as interventions. A YouTube channel as an avenue to upload educational videos has been used before the pandemic. This platform's advent can be used in delivering mathematics interventions since the students preferred to watch videos. This study aimed to assess the Mathematics video lessons via a YouTube channel for modular distance learning. This was a practical action research design following the PDSA model that utilized the participants' pretest and the posttest scores. Also, open-ended surveys and interviews were conducted to elicit qualitative data to support the quantitative findings. The result reveals that video lessons help the students understand the mathematics concepts complementing lessons on the modules. Moreover, they enjoyed watching the teacher-made videos since they see the teacher explaining the lesson. However, the students suggested having regular posting of videos with more examples and explanations having clear and loud voice of the teacher.

However, students struggle to learn mathematics lessons independently under this modality based on summative tests and performance tasks' results from the first grading period using self-learning modules. So, interventions must be placed by using social media platforms preferred by most of the students to reach and help them. The study aimed to assess the utilization of Facebook and Messenger groups as platforms for delivering video lessons and activities, learning materials, administering the test, and answering queries of the students in grade 9 Mathematics following the modified PDSA model. The study employed a practical action research design utilizing surveys, interviews, and test materials as data collection methods validated by master teachers and a head teacher. The pretest was administered before two months of interventions. After that, the posttest, survey, and interview were administered. Based on the results, the pretest scores are statistically different from the posttest scores. It means the interventions via Facebook and Messenger groups help students cope with modular distance learning challenges. The interventions done by the teacher were effective based on the computed effect size so that the students able to learn mathematics competencies despite having in the comfort of their houses. As a result, students better understand the mathematics lessons and enjoy learning at their own pace.

It was revealed that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results and between the control and the experimental groups. Moreover, semi-structured interviews were conducted on the experiences and suggestions of the students to improve the mobile app. The study pursued its implementation for the whole grade level in senior high school. All grade 11 students were encouraged to use the mobile app for three months during the third grading period. Their academic performance in the periodical test was considered. It was found out that there was an increase in the mean percentage score which indicates that the use of mobile app has a positive effect on the numeracy skills of the students. It means using mobile phone in learning mathematics concepts may increase not only the passion of the students in mathematics, but also the student's computational and conceptual skills. However, it is suggested to conduct similar studies in other schools to verify the findings of this study.

A semi-structured interview was used in this study in order to have a clear view about the concept of junior public high school mathematics teachers with regards to contextualization. Data were analyzed through thematic coding wherein the transcripts were written into phrases and related codes was grouped together. From the findings, math teachers have two ideas of contextualization-about the student's life and using local materials or information. These ideas came from the reference materials, internet and seminar-training conducted by DepEd which seen on their teaching pedagogies. Lessons delivered effectively and efficiently if the math teachers used available materials or information in the surrounding which created better understanding of math concepts. Context on students' lives made the class lively and engaging where the students construct their own meaning.

This study aimed to enhance students' mathematical critical thinking and problem-solving based on Emergenetics ® as a grouping mechanism. This is a practical action research design wherein the researchers made profiling to identify the dominant thinking attributes of each student followed by the formation of the group. Then, a pre-test was used to assess the level of critical thinking and problem-solving skills of the students. After that, the formation of a group with a complete set of four thinking attributes. Moreover, four group learning tasks were given at regular intervals wherein the students must collaboratively find the solutions to the given Statistics and Probability problems by combining their thinking attributes. After three months, the post-test of validated test materials and interviews were administered. Based on the findings, the students enjoyed group activity because of the collaboration and a combination of abilities in doing the task. A significant increase exists from pre-test to posttest scores of the students. Through Emergenetics ® as a grouping mechanism helps the students to combine their attributes and work collaboratively towards the accomplishment of the group task.
