Young consumers, specifically Gen Zers, are key given their role in sustainable behaviour and in influencing their peers and other generations. In purchases of everyday products, consumers may rely on immediate cues to facilitate their decisions. Additionally, they may face tradeoffs between eco-friendliness and the product's perceived convenience and usability. The study investigates the influence of Gen Zers' perceptions of packaging sustainability and ergonomics in their environmental attitude and intention to purchase products. It provides an alternative perspective to the attitude-behaviour gap and managerial insights regarding packaging as an information cue to everyday products.

It aims to explore the influence of perceived authenticity in the future intentions of the local community, concerning a heritage tourism destination. Data was collected from São João da Madeira residents, Portugal, and the sample consisted of 389 respondents. The statistical technique applied was the structural equation model (SEM). Our findings suggest that perceived heritage plays a significant role in residents’ attitudes towards tourism development support, their own participation ideals, and their attachment to the place. These findings will contribute to both practical and theoretical research, as they aim to enhance current knowledge on residents’ perceived authenticity, being an understudied approach; furthermore, it offers a valuable opportunity to consider residents in the management and planning of an industrial tourism destination. This study an...

Due to its technological characteristics, the products can be produced with multi-materials and without any geometric limitations. By associating the use of biocompatible materials, it is becoming an excellent technology to develop products and / or devices in the medical field. These additive manufacturing technologies in the health sector have even created a more specific technological field, namely biomanufacturing which is capable of answering to the demanding geometric complexity of the anatomy with the combination of biomaterials, drugs and growth factors and the use of cells for the production of biomedical implants. The additive manufacturing and biomanufacturing technologies have thus shown to be capable to meet the requirements demanded by the medical sector. However, responses to these needs can’t be based only on the current context, but also in the future cont...

Product packaging not always to serves to wrap and storage the products, it is an important role in communication and image building (Wells, Farley, & Armstrong, 2007). Nevertheless, to better use the package ergonomic’, performance and convenience is important to consumer to reduce frustrating experiences with packages. But, nowadays consumers are now paying more and more attention to the environmental impact of their consumption, including packaging options (Scott & Vigar-Ellis, 2014), and Gen-Z is more likely to prioritize sustainability and more willing to pay (CGS, 2019). Our study examine the influence of product ergonomics in consumer behaviour. Additionally, we test consumer environmental attitudes role as moderator.

Due to evolving technologies, processes and materials, economic dominance has become a key factor for product development. But in the last decade, environmental issues have gained importance and it is a critical issue for current and future industries. In this context, additive manufacturing and digital technologies have allowed us to also create new environmental awareness amongst the industrial and scientific community. From the commercial perspective, economic, marketing and social impact are key issues to be addressed. From the industrial perspective, the design, material and processing parameters are critical aspects. All of these issues will influence the uptake and adoption of Additive Manufacturing while increasing environmental awareness. This chapter will provide a global overview on how Additive Manufacturing (AM) has a huge in...

They have become more critical, active and informed. They pursue more personalised products/services and like to be involved in the design process. Additive manufacturing technologies allows this personalisation of products and new business models should embrace these trends to differentiate and gain competitive advantages. The application of 3D technology is widely spread in different areas including textile and apparel manufacturing. From a physical model, it is possible to create a digital model using 3D scanning technology for redesigning purposes. Among the various applications, the apparel industry has expanded with relevant gains, namely fitting and customisation. Several applications of 3D printing for garment, fashion accessories and footwear are described. These applications are based on 3D models that are digitised through 3D scanning and then modelled using CAD software. A case study of shoe redesign is presented in which engineering design tools are implemented, namely, topological and lattice structural design.

Digitalisation is a growing reality. As per April 2019, there were 4.437 billion internet users (around 58% of the worldwide population) and 3.499 billion active social media users. Not only is the setting changing, but also consumers' profiles and roles. Researchers have identified some emerging trends that are leading firms to change the way they communicate to consumers and develop new and innovative businesses. In this chapter, the authors present a general perspective of marketing communication and how it will affect business innovation, discuss the existing paradigm shift in marketing communication, and introduce a case study which applies some of the more recent techniques.

These advancements have changed the way of product development and play an important role in customization. In the footwear industry, as in any other industry, the use of these technologies is widely spread. Footwear comfort is one of the main selection criteria for purchase. Considering this fact, a case study of different steps for shoe designing according to individual foot shape will be presented. Taking into consideration the aesthetics of the sole and in a more sustainable view, through topological optimization reducing of material wastage for sole production will be presented. By means of the topological optimization in the shoe design process, sole optimization is realized. As a part of personalization, feet’s plantar pressure maps taken from 1 participant gave a better explanation of weight distribution of each foot. Following, sole personalization accordi...

However, despite its new technology and modernization, the employers complain of a lack of human resources in this sector. Some CEO’s believe that many young students are not aware of the opportunities in this industry. This research analyses the main reasons for proximity and distance between students’ awareness and the reality of the industry and suggests some of the strategic areas on which we can act on in order to solve the problem. These areas are the unawareness of reality and the industry opportunities; the insufficiency of a practical component in teaching; the expected salary of the students leaving the higher education maladjusted to reality; the long and uncertain working hours; and the unawareness of the job profiles and career plans in the industry This research also tries to achieve some guidelines which can be used for future procedures in mold en...
