It has been an integral part of people daily economy as well as an important place in social life. The traditional market is going further not only in economic transactional meaning but also a place of social interaction and transfer of values carried out by actors and stakeholders of community. Among the Betawi community of Rawa Belong for example, the seasonal milkfish market before the Chinese New Year, initially only enjoyed by the Chinese to welcome the Chinese New Year but gradually accepted and absorbed into the Betawi culture. The tradition of milkfish is transferred to prospective in-laws or parents-in-law as a sign of affection and respect for him. Using qualitative descriptive methods, we can see that in other word, the Betawi community is adaptable to social changes, open minded, as well as welcoming different culture in the environment. By accepting and adopting a variety of positive cultures without removing existing cultures, we can learn how this milkfish market become a symbol of cultural harmony as well as promotion of multiculturalism among Betawi community. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mensosialisasikan kegiatan literasi dan metode read aloud sebagai salah satu alternatif dalam melakukan kegiatan literasi di rumah, sehingga menumbuhkembangkan minat baca siswa. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode presentasi, diskusi, dan demonstrasi. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan terhadap orang tua siswa kelas I SDN Harapan Baru III sebanyak 28 orang. Hasilnya orang tua sangat antusias dan dapat mempraktikan kegiatan read aloud kepada siswa. Reading is important to students' academic achievement and contains a problematical process. One ... more Reading is important to students' academic achievement and contains a problematical process. One important aspect of teaching reading has been ignored, that is the need to teach students the suitable reading approaches. In this study we investigated the use of reading approaches in developing students' reading competency on Javanese language among primary school teachers. For the purpose of the study, twenty school teachers from jepara central java have been randomly selected as the research subjects. A questionnaire survey was administered to define whether the teachers have knowledge of reading approaches and to demonstrate their students. The findings of the study indicated that while teachers were responsive of the use of reading strategies in developing reading capabilities on javanese language, they did not completely utilized them in teaching reading to primary school students. Effective reading approaches such as setting context, recitation the text to students and predicting or interpreting transcript were less frequently used. Other than, teachers also unsecsessful to encourage students' interaction with the script.

Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini dengan cara mengadakan seminar dan membuka ruang tanya jawab tentang masalah-masalah yang di rasakan oleh guru. Untuk mengukur tingkat pemahaman Guru sebelum dan sesudah seminar, Guru di berikan Pre Test dan Post Test. Dan hasil seminar ini para guru dapat memiliki pengetahuan baru dalam menentukan strategi pembelajaran dan cara memilih media pembelajaran yang tepat agar materi tersampaikan dengan baik dan lebih difahami.

The purpose of this study was to find out and understand (1) the process of improving scientific ... more The purpose of this study was to find out and understand (1) the process of improving scientific essay writing skills through a heutagogical approach to online learning and (2) the effectiveness of applying the heutagogical approach to improving students' scientific essay writing skills. The method used is action research. The research was conducted on students at a university in Jakarta, Indonesia. This research is participatory and collaborative and takes place in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. Data were collected through writing tests and observations. The writing test results were assessed using the speech writing assessment guidelines. The results showed that applying the heutagogical approach in online learning could improve students' scientific essay writing skills. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mensosialisasikan kegiatan literasi dan metode read aloud sebagai salah satu alternatif dalam melakukan kegiatan literasi di rumah, sehingga menumbuhkembangkan minat baca siswa. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode presentasi, diskusi, dan demonstrasi. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan terhadap orang tua siswa kelas I SDN Harapan Baru III sebanyak 28 orang. Hasilnya orang tua sangat antusias dan dapat mempraktikan kegiatan read aloud kepada siswa. Kegiatan pengabdian ini juga menjadi salah satu alternatif dalam menjembatani peran orang tua dan siswa dalam melakukan pembelajaran membaca, sehingga orang tua memahami peran dan kontribusinya dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan gerakan literasi sekolah sebagai program pemerintah

The data collection techniques that I use are observation, interviews, documentation, and then to analyze the research results, the writer draws conclusions by inductive thinking. By using this analysis, the researchers present the results of the study that to foster health care behaviour, safety and the environment in primary schools must be supported by school facilities and programs, the results of which will have an impact on health care activities, safety, and the environment.

Reading is important to students' academic achievement and contains a problematical process. One ... more Reading is important to students' academic achievement and contains a problematical process. One important aspect of teaching reading has been ignored, that is the need to teach students the suitable reading approaches. In this study we investigated the use of reading approaches in developing students' reading competency on Javanese language among primary school teachers. For the purpose of the study, twenty school teachers from jepara central java have been randomly selected as the research subjects. A questionnaire survey was administered to define whether the teachers have knowledge of reading approaches and to demonstrate their students. The findings of the study indicated that while teachers were responsive of the use of reading strategies in developing reading capabilities on javanese language, they did not completely utilized them in teaching reading to primary school students. Effective reading approaches such as setting context, recitation the text to students and predicting or interpreting transcript were less frequently used. Other than, teachers also unsecsessful to encourage students' interaction with the script.

Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini dengan cara mengadakan seminar dan membuka ruang tanya jawab tentang masalah-masalah yang di rasakan oleh guru. Untuk mengukur tingkat pemahaman Guru sebelum dan sesudah seminar, Guru di berikan Pre Test dan Post Test. The purpose of this study was to find out and understand (1) the process of improving scientific ... more The purpose of this study was to find out and understand (1) the process of improving scientific essay writing skills through a heutagogical approach to online learning and (2) the effectiveness of applying the heutagogical approach to improving students' scientific essay writing skills. The method used is action research. The research was conducted on students at a university in Jakarta, Indonesia. This research is participatory and collaborative and takes place in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. Data were collected through writing tests and observations. The writing test results were assessed using the speech writing assessment guidelines. The results showed that applying the heutagogical approach in online learning could improve students' scientific essay writing skills.
