Title: Before The Duel
Fandom: Horatio Hornblower
Characters: Horatio,
Prompt: 030 Death
Rating: G
Summary: On Justinian,Horatio often thought of death...
In those dark days on Justinian, Horatio often thought of death. There was no question of desertion; he'd not dream of it ever, though it would have been some escape at least.
With that not being an option, only one remained, though opportunity was lacking.
When his chance finally came, Horatio knew exactly what he had to do.
Challenging Jack Simpson was stupid and he knew it, but one way or the other, this duel would bring a resolution. His situation would be better if he lived or if he died.
He did not know which one he wanted more.
Title: Oops...
Fandom: Horatio Hornblower
Characters: Horatio,Pellew
Prompt: 045 Guilt
Rating: G
Summary: Horatio is forced to take responsibility for some thoughtless actions...
Horatio shifted a little, unable to meet Captain Pellew's gaze entirely. While he'd known he was taking a risk, he'd not expected things to end so badly as all this. It was not as though he had intended for the destruction to take place, but as highest ranking officer responsible for the mess, and as the one who had given the order, he knew that he must take responsibility.
"Sir..." he tried to began, but Pellew cut him off, holding out the lone victim of their antics and sighing deeply.
"You will be replacing my wig, I'll have you know."
Title: No Hero
Fandom: Horatio Hornblower
Characters: Horatio,
Prompt: 089 Hero
Rating: G
Summary: Horatio is confused by the attention he's recieving after The Fire Ships
Horatio still didn't understand why they saw him as they did in all of this. He was, after all, no Captain Foster; he had only done the necessary thing when the burning Spanish ship had been spotted. It was not as if it was anything that special, he thought again, though he was gratified to know the Indefatigable and her crew would be all right.
It was not that he had done something that no one else could do. He'd just been in the right place and time to do it.
It was not as if he were a hero...
(there were two others that I'm ironing the kinks from! you'll see those later)
