Soulforce is coming here!
This Saturday, April 21, the Soulforce Equality Ride will be stopping here, at Spring Arbor University.
SAU is not allowing Soulforce on campus, therefore we will be meeting at the pavillion behind McDonald's & the police station, right across M-60.
The riders plan to arrive around 12:30 and will stay for the afternoon and early evening.
This is a big deal they are stopping!! We were not on their originally planned tour. A number of people wrote to them asking them to come and they have added us to their route on their way to Calvin and Cornerstone!
What is Soulforce?
Their mission statement: "The purpose of Soulforce is freedom for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people from religious and political oppression through the practice of relentless nonviolent resistance."
What is the Equality Ride?
Homophobia is globally pervasive, and no community or school escapes its reach. The Equality Ride route has less to do with specific priority and everything to do with the urgency of this conversation. In 2006, during the inaugural Equality Ride, participants engaged nineteen schools. This year, the journey continues with fifty-seven young adults going to thirty-two Christian colleges and universities. Two buses are taking the group on two distinct paths around the country in creative pursuit of social justice. In doing so, they are empowered to change countless lives. Love liberates the oppressed, redeems the lost, and resurrects the spirit.
Why should you come?
Because they want to talk to you! As fellow Christians, they hold the same Biblical ideals and principles. Come have a discussion, ask tough
questions and do it all in the spirit of love! No one will be attacked or laughed at.
No matter what your view of homosexuality is, you are welcome to come!
